First off, I'd like to say the actual hotel was nice and our room had a great view. Unfortunately, it was slightly offset by the stupid idiot that checked us in, Antonio. Let's see, where to begin...First of all, I don't think he was even qualified to work the check-in. He came out of the back room and noticed that the line was getting long so decided this was his big chance to impress the bosses and waved us over for check-in assistance. He did alright for the first couple minutes...took our names down and entered them into the system well enough. However, that's about all he did right. Our Priceline package was paid in full and included free parking. When we mentioned this, Antonio was quick to tell us that the hotel didn't offer free parking and that there would be an additional fee. As this was going on, I interjected to ask what floor we'd be on as my husband and I were both hoping for something near the top for the view. He said we'd be on the 7th floor. My husband then asked if we would be able to pay more for a room on one of the top floors...anything from 20 up would have been great. Once again, Antonio the idiot was quick to say this wasn't possible but for a $30 fee, we could have a city view on the 7th floor....big whoop. When we asked why we weren't allowed anything higher than that, he explained that there were people in this weekend taking an exam and that the hotel wanted to give them a quiet area in which to study while keeping the noisier people for St. Patrick's Day weekend separated. This sounded like an alright excuse but were they really blocking 25 floors just for this? At this point he was of no help and we were losing patience so he went to the back and brought out his manager. As she walked out, she looked at us and shook her head as if to say, "I'm sorry you have to deal with this guy." His manager, Louise, quickly looked up our reservation, confirmed we did indeed have free parking and gave us our room cards so we could be on our way. So, off we go to the 7th floor with a room card that says 3223. Odd, I thought, wouldn't the numbers be in the 700's if our room was on the 7th floor? Oh well, surely Antonio isn't stupid enough to send us to the wrong floor, right? Nope, he was. After briefly stepping off on the 7th floor, we realized we had to be in the wrong place and went back down to inquire. By this time, they'd moved Antonio to the help desk where he could tell people that Chicago doesn't have a Shedd Aquarium or Field Museum. The lady working the check-in told us that we were actually on the 32nd floor! So, to wrap up, the rest of the trip was great. We had an amazing view and a really nice time. But, the story wouldn't be complete without finding out a couple days later that Hyatt charged my credit card for the room even though we'd already paid on Priceline. I blame Antonio. I'm sure he's behind this in some way. Anyway, they've refunded the double charge and that'll probably be the last time we visit that hotel.
