“Super clean and convenient, with some drawbacks.”
Reviewed 2 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Having just spent two nights here we found the cabin impeccably clean and conveniently located to the friends we were visiting. The owner was very receptive and made our requested repair the day after we arrived. The water pressure in the shower was fabulous although the shower head was extremely low (At 5'8" I had to duck to get under it). The bed was comfy with nice linens.

The downsides are that there is a lot of road noise as the cabin is close to Peninsula Drive with no foliage between the road and the house. Truck traffic started early. The sofa bed is new and also immaculate but unfortunately it is very hard, with big seams down the middle, and fiercely uncomfortable. The sheets are hidden away under the chaise side of the couch. Who knew! We didn't, and ended up using old moving sheets found in our car along with bath towels for blankets on our first night.

Summing up, the cabin is fine for a single person or bed-sharers who are deep sleepers, have busy, active days planned, and need a clean and convenient base. Despite not having brought our dog, we appreciate that the cabin is dog friendly.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and have already purchased a new shower head with an extension cord to improve the shower. I've also printed out some important instructions about the WiFi, where the extra lines are and other informative information and have posted them in the cabin. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.
Sincerely,
Joanne

Cabin was very cute and clean. For our purposes of taking the kayak to the lake was more difficult than we hoped. We still had a great time on the lake :).

Thank you Joanne for the stay!

The cabin was perfect, cute, clean and walking distance to everything. Joanne, the owner, was great to work with and very responsive to my call and we exchanged a couple wick texts too. We'd definitely stay here again :-)

“Nice...but...”

This is a really nice little cabin in a very convenient location. It's cute with all the appropriate amenities. The problem with the location is that you are basically on the corner of Big Cove and Peninsula. That's a pretty busy intersection and traffic would wake us up. There is no air conditioning, so running the fans and keeping the windows open are a must. Therefore, we got enough morning traffic noise to wake us. The bed is OK, but I'm pretty sure it is a futon mattress. Not exactly the most comfortable for these tired old bones. I had planned on criticizing the WiFi, but the issues are just part of the area. Our family that lives at the Lake and our fellow vacationers that stayed at Bailey Creek all had the same problems. The internet is very spotty and VERY slow. This is a vacation cottage. If you think you might be able to get some work done, forget it. The place was basically clean, but there were a lot of cob webs in the ceiling rafters. All in all, I would rent it again. Very reasonably priced with a convenient albeit a little noisy location. Bring your own hair dryer, shampoo and soap. This isn't a hotel.

Clean, tidy, "cabin" feeling for anyone who is there to primarily enjoy the lake and other activities, rather than sit around inside all day and eve.
Gorgeous multi-position windows throughout, with great cross ventilation.
Kitchenette with full 4-burner range/oven, double sink, side-by-side refrig/freezr, cookware and utensils. Convenient outdoor gas grill with small deck for up to 6 persons. Efficient stow-away dining table and chairs. Tons of storage in bedroom, comfortable firm queen bed -- not saggy! -- and a ceiling fan. Adequate bathroom with stall shower.
Whatever little daytime "traffic" there may be on the road next to the cabin, is made up for convenience and quiet all night.
Disagree with an earlier whiny review of this property; the oven and range work just fine, and as it's only about an hour to drive around the entire lake, nothing is hugely inconvenient -- in fact the cabin is within easy walking distance from a nice Italian restaurant.
Wifi and towels provided, but bring all your own personal amenities for bathroom.
Owner responsive and very pleasant.

Liked best: Clean! Added plus: Small tidy pet was permitted, and driveway was large enough to park truck and boat next to cabin.

“We loved this cabin...and will definitely be back.”
Reviewed 14 January 2016 for a stay in October 2015

The location was great and close to everything. With the lake right across the street, restaurants and a local deli market all within walking distance we found this to be the perfect place. The cabin was very comfortable and spotless. We had a great time, looking forward to renting it out again next year.

“We left three days early”

We rented the cabin for four nights, stayed only one because of the following; cabin was on roadway that was busy and noisy, no public access to Lake Almanor nearby, no live TV, only movies, day late news, only one burner on four burner stove barley worked.
Joanne, the owner/manager was very nice and knowledge about the cabin. The price, $ 125.00, seemed very reasonable, I guess you get what you pay for.

I am so sorry you left early. I had no idea that you did and wish you would have called to let me know. I get inquiries daily and would have no problem renting out the cabin to someone else and reimburse you for the days you did not stay. I understand your reason for coming out to Lake Alamanor was to participate in the Arts and Craft show in the nearby Town of Chester, and not to enjoy the Lake and all the amenities it has to offer. Most of our guests rent our cabin for the closeness to the lake, golfing, easy access to boating and local entertainment. When you first showed up I recall your husband was a bit disappointed that he could not watch the golf tournament live on the television. I came over immediately to show him how to use the ROKU and explained that there was no satellite or cable at the cabin. I clarified we have the ROKU, which is a device full of television shows and movies which has access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and many more streaming video providers. It consists of on Demand News, Sports and Movies. We provide the WiFi at no charge as well as our Netflix account, so you do not need to pay anything to use this service.
As for the burner, the cabin is on propane fuel and since the stove does not get used daily, like at home. Sometimes you need to keep the burners on for a few seconds longer to allow the propane to reach and light the burners. All four burners work fine as well as the oven. I personally clean the cabin and check the burners after each departure of guests. We also provide a lighter as part of the cooking utensils should anyone want to use the barbecue, or need additional assistance in lighting the stove burners.
The cabin is centrally located on Peninsula Drive, which is a single lane 25 mph residential road right across the lake. The majority of traffic consists of the nearby recreational facilities which include two public boat launches, seasonal campgrounds and a marina. We are located within 400 feet of Pine Cone Resort which has beach access and about a quarter mile from the Big Cove Marina which is the main marina on Lake Almanor. There you can rent motor boats, fishing boats, pontoons, water toys, jet skis and more. If you want to come out and enjoy the lake, restaurants, have quick access to the lake and nearby coffee and market shops, this is the place to be.
I understand that your main purpose of this trip was to participate and exhibit your work at the Chester Arts and Craft show and you needed to be there all day. I can understand how our cabin may not have been an ideal location for you since your main intention was the Arts and Craft show and not the lake.
