Excellent location to visit the area. Clean, tidy and the homemade loaf was lovely. Plenty of places to visit in the area

“Warm, pet-friendly, quiet cottage nestled in the Yorkshire hills. Bliss.”
Reviewed November 14, 2017 for a stay in November 2017

This place is great. We arrived with a 6 month old child and an 18 month old puppy in tow. Owners had set up a crib in the bedroom for us and he slept like a dream for the 5 nights we stayed. It's spacious, with really good central heating and a wood burner for those chilly November evenings. Hebden Bridge is a 5 min drive down the hill with a local Co-op, cosy pubs and plenty of shops to peruse. There's also Hardcastle Crags nearby which is a great walk for the dog and pram friendly(ish).
All in all we had a great time resting in the idyllic, misty hills of Heptonstall. Would definitely recommend.

The accomodation was lovely and in a great location. We are planning a trip to the area in August and would have returned here had the dates been free.

“lovely barn cottage and a beautiful place”
Reviewed June 4, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Had a wonderful 4 night stay in this lovely barn . We arrived after a short journey and the barn was ready for us and a beautiful home made loaf was left for us , so we unpacked and then had tea with the tasty bread . The barn had everything we needed and was home from home . We visited the two local pubs and everyone was lovely and friendly especially Sandy the bar person in the Cross Inn . plenty places to walk or get the bus into Hebden bridge . The barn is a credit to NIC and Steve who were at hand if needed . thanks for a wonderful 4 days and will revisit again.

“Amazing Property in a Great Location”

On our recent trip to England, my traveling companion and I included a 5 day stay near the Lancashire-Yorkshire border. We wanted an accommodation that was not in a congested area, had easy access to major roads for touring, and would accommodate 3 adults since a friend who lives in Lancashire was joining us in our cottage. The photos and description of this property by the owner was enticing, and we booked it for our stay.

Everything about the photos and description proved to be absolutely correct. The property was renovated a year or so ago and was in impeccable shape. It was thoroughly clean when we arrived (later than expected due to traffic around Manchester). There was a "renter's book" that gave us ample information about every appliance and every aspect of living in the unit. The furniture was comfortable and in keeping with the ambience of the "listed" barn conversion. The beds turned out to be very comfortable, the hot bath water was plentiful, and everything was in perfect working order. It was also an extremely thoughtful gesture for the owners to leave fresh baked bread, tea and coffee supplies, milk, and butter for us.

We became familiar with Heptonstall in short order -- the church cemetery where Sylvia Plath is buried, the 2 pubs, and tea shop, and the post office where some grocery items were sold. Everything we needed was close by. (It was a good thing, too, since we had snow while we were there.) The barn and the village had a very rural feel, even though located close to several larger towns. There were views of the surrounding pastures, unbelievably beautiful with a fresh coating of snow, between the houses.

The wood stove in the living room was much appreciated by us since the wind whistled over the mountain top on the snowy evenings. The owners supplied wood, kindling, and even newspapers as a fire starter. The central heating (with individually adjustable units in each room) did an excellent job of keeping the rest of the house warm and the quality bed linens kept us extra toasty on those cold evenings.

The entire rental, from the reservation to our leave taking, was absolutely perfect. We will absolutely rent this lovely place if (when?) we return to the area again.

Lovely holiday home in an excellent location. The holiday home was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. It’s in a beautiful quaint village with 2 pubs, a café and a shop within walking distance. Hebden bridge is also about a 5-minute drive/30-minute walk away and has lots of independent shops and restaurants.

“Fabulous Weekend Break In Whitehall Ford”
Reviewed November 5, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We had such a great long weekend staying at The Barn. The accommodation is lovely with a superb kitchen, cosy lounge complete with log burner and very comfy beds. The little village of Heptonstall is a really nice, quaint place complete with cobbled roads and classic buildings. Walking opportunities are plentiful right from the front door and there are two pubs within 50 yards that do great food and offer open fires. Also, the owners of the barn, Nic and Steve, are extremely nice and even forgave our breaking of a wine glass! We will definitely visit again.
