This is a delightful cottage, very spacious for two, enough room for 4 and great for dogs, with a tiled hallway that's easy to clean and an enclosed garden. But our stay was blighted by a terrible smell in the cottage and cooking smells (and smoke) from the pub to which it is attached. We didn't sit out in the garden, with it being March but we would not have been able had we have wanted to on several evenings as strong smells and smoke from the grill in the pub filled the corner in which the garden was located. As for the smell in the house, we thought it came from the cesspool, which had been emptied the day we arrived. the owner, who responded quickly to our report, thought it was a dead mouse under the floor board. Whichever, it meant we had to have the windows open in the kitchen and bathrooms while we were home (very cold when getting out of the shower in March) and came home from lovely days out around the Cotswolds to the most unpleasant 'welcome'. For such a lovely cottage the other surprising disappointment was the absence of any welcome pack - no milk, let alone cake, bottle or wine or flowers. There is no village store in Cold Aston so unless you took your own, a cup of tea was also not an option on arrival. The smell n the cottage was unfortunate but a bottle of wine or some flowers would have gone some way to make up for the significant discomfort.
Perfect cottage for time away in the Cotswolds. Close enough for walks and siteseeing the nearby villages but remote enough to escape from the big city. Cottage had everything for an short stay away. Will definitely return.
