Very popular with the locals so go at 12 or after 1.15. Expect to have an enormous tureen of onion soup put in front of you before placing your order. Leave room for the main. Busy, efficient, good.

very unpretentious cafe with hidden delights, lovely local food served in a very basic atmosphere but you have to get there early to beat the locals as it is very reasonable

It's been said before, but this is a voyage back in time, and not only the setting but also the prices. We stopped off for a coffee (very good) en route to St Girons and were so taken with the old place that we returned for lunch. The food is simple but copious and there are choices of set menus from 11 to 20 Euros (maybe more I forget) and à la carte. My wife had the €12 which offered four courses, I the €15 with three. Dessert offered amongst other things a good fresh fruit salad - what you need after a local Cassoulet. Service was efficient and discrete although personally I missed not seeing Edith, René, Leclerk et al...

We made a reservation, as much to check that it was open on that night. The restaurant is a walk back in time. I felt as if it could have been the 50's. The menu is homely. We had the soup (almost a meal on its own), the alguillettettes de canard duck & buvette de boeuf beef, then dessert ..... it was very good traditional french food and we loved it. It was probably too much food, but had we been working in the fields for the day it would have been perfect. We recommend to check that it is open, phone to book or call into the bar next door.
