“Probably won't stay here again”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

I booked this as a road stop on the way to an East Peoria event. I wanted to stay outside the city. I researched the hotels in the area and decided on this one. It is an older hotel and it smelled old. The room was clean but old. The beds were nice and seemed updated. There was a lot of paint in the carpet.

They offer a complimentary hot breakfast buffet. It sounds good and since the hotel is attached to a restaurant one would think it would be good. But it is not. It's the same old sausage gravy that they squeeze out of a bag, dried biscuits & frozen square tasteless potatoes. They also have the dried cereal, oranges and a place to toast bagels & muffins. Nothing special here.

Stayed here in March 2011. Decor and cleanliness needs to be improved. Someone cut themselves on something sharp in the pool, so they closed it for an hour while they fixed the sharp object. Of course that happened just as we were arriving with a group of kids who were very anxious to swim. Beds were ok, towels were thin, breakfast buffet was not plentiful and not refreshed often enough for the number of people there. They seemed understaffed.

A family emergency required extending my stay in East Peoria. Unfortunately, the Stoney Creek Inn (another story) wasn't able to extend my stay and the other local hotels were booked as well. So, it was BW Ashland House as a last resort.

I've stayed at and reviewed this property before. There's nothing nice here. It's still dirty, still noisy, and still poorly maintained. I wasn't even a little surprised to find a pretzel on the carpet to greet me or that the wifi signal was too weak to reach my room. Car alarms and big rigs outside your window are just part of the deal. The on-site breakfast is a disaster, though hungry soldiers and weary firefighters might find it acceptable.

The best thing about BW Ashland House? There's a Cracker Barrel across the street.

BWs overall have been in decline for some time. This property is another reason to avoid Best Westerns altogether when possible.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with decent wifi facing the WalMart. At least you won't have a big rig waking yo...

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and had a very enjoyable experience. Clean, quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay there again and definitely recommend to others.

We had a perfectly fine stay at this hotel. The only reason I didn't give it more stars is that it's not quite "there" yet. When we first walked in, there was a sign on the lobby door "excusing their mess," as they were renovating the front desk area. The desk was temporarily just a table near the door, with laptops and phones for the staff... and all kinds of paperwork strewn all over. I wasn't too bothered, though, because I understand they are in the midst of a renovation. I caught of glimpse of the nearly-finished new front desk, and it will be quite modern and clean-looking when finished.

Our room was on the third floor, and upon getting off the elevator, we were taken aback by how hot and stuffy the hallway was. Good lord. Our room, which had the air conditioning turned off, was nearly as warm as the hallway. Thankfully the air kicked in quickly and cooled off the room. The hallway stayed stifling hot the whole time we were there. The room was fine, with updated linens, furniture and decor to match what I assume is going on in the lobby. It had a fridge and small coffee pot, as well as what they called a "wet bar" - a tiny sink. Not that I would've used it, but when I hear "wet bar" I assume little bottles of liquor and snacks. Not a big deal, but just a little odd. The bathroom was fine and very clean, but could be updated to match the rest of the room (just looked a little 80's - cheap hollow-core door, the closet door was just a cheapy folding mirror door). The bed was extremely comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean.

Breakfast was down in the attached restaurant bar area, and left something to be desired. Just very sparse, with basic juice, milk, yogurt, cereal and a few (not so tasty) hot options like sausage and eggs. I've had way better.

Swam in the pool for a little while, it was very warm, almost bath water. It was fine for the 2 of us that were in there, but I could see it getting very crowded with more than 10 or so people in there.

We were there for a wedding at the conference center, which was beautiful. The staff, both in the wedding and of the hotel itself were very friendly and accomodating. We would have no problem staying here again, but would recommend more options for breakfast, and would love to see what the place looks like after renovations.

Never a fan of the Best Western chain in general. When this hotel was first opened, it was probably nice. Now many years later, it's incredibly tired, worn, outdated, peeling paint, chipped furniture, and worn-out carpet. The room rate is silly for this calibur -- it's a $59 room, not a $99 room! Only a pool -- out of order, of course -- and no hot tub. And the "free breakfast" -- what a joke!!! They were out of almost everything! The staff person told me, "We only order once a week so we run out of stuff a lot." Seriously???? My advice is to ditch the breakfast so people can lower their expectations.

This hotel needs updated. A bit worn, could be spruced up. Beds were alright, pillows are not. Bring your own ! Internet was horrid. Manager was rude. Breakfast was good and the same daily, but was filling. The attached Pub had great food and friendly service.

We were in town for the National LWML Convention. We politely inquired about a late check out due to our schedule. The Mgr was extremely rude. I can understand if it was not possible, but why be rude ? Towels were worn and on the thin side. You can tell the entire place needs a bit of sprucing up. Beds comfy though, thankfully. Showers okay as well. Basics are provided for. Employees were polite and accomodating as the mgr allowed.

Did not have time to check out the pool or hot tub, but they looked nice.

Internet was horrid, had all kinds of problems with it. Was supposed to be high speed, had problems keeping a connection, thank goodness I had a wireless USB with me !
