If you are in search of good lobster roll, this is the place! Pair it with a bowl of hearty clam chowder to complete your meal. It's a rare gem to find it in Illinois suburb.

Ordered take for the family on a Friday. Place was busy but my order was on time. Was told a pound of fish would serve two to three people. Ordered a pound of fish, half pound of shrimp, a bowl of chowder and two sides for over $30. I got there and was shocked how little food it was. The breeding is thick and dense and absorbs any flavor the fish had. Cleaned out plates and resorted to a bowl of cereal to get through the night. Nothing to write home to mom about.

We had their clam chowder. It was one of the best, if not the best, we have ever had. That includes numerous tastings on the East Coast.

Met some friends here for dinner, we had been before, got carryout lobster rolls a few months back and thought they were expensive but tasty. We sat at a table on an empty Wednesday evening. The young guy from the counter was very attentive and took our orders. The menu is really not meant for a sit down dinner place, more of a counter service/take out place with food by the pound and add ons for side salads or fries. Everyone in the party of four ordered something different. The lobster roll was good, still overpriced for a sandwich when you have to pay extra for fries, you can go to a "real restaurant" and spend less. 2 in the party ordered the chowder and could barely finish it, both stating it had an odd flavor and more celery than anything else. The scallops were so caked with batter and fried you couldn't taste the scallop. Same with the not so jumbo fried shrimp. The peel and eat shrimp was just okay. For $100 spent with tip we could have gone to a restaurant and had a full meal with a drink. Never again.

I travel all over the country for a living and believe the North East is by far the best place for a fresh Lobster Roll and New England Clam Chowder. The Original Island Shrimp House is simply equal to or better than anything I have had in the North Eastern part of the country. The shrimp is large and delicious, all the rolls are good and the soups are amazing. It is a BYOB. The service is great. Have been there 3 times in the last week with the family. I strongly recommend!!!!!!!
