I stayed at the Lodge House B&B with my wife and 7 month old son when we attended a friend's Birthday bash in the village of Buckland St Mary. Even before we arrived our hosts were being very attentive having phoned us in concern over the size of their travel cot, seeing as we were travelling with a baby. Having talked it through, we came to a workable solution.
A definite point to note is that the lanes in and around the B&B are small and it is well worth taking a look at the B&Bs website and viewing their YouTube video on how to get there.
Then when we arrived, we were met with a very friendly welcome by the proprietors, Kathy and Neil, and treated to tea and cake while we settled ourselves in. The room was not en suite, however, as this is not a big B&B and they have just finished some development work, each set of guests (at least when we were there) had their own set of stairs and near enough their own bathroom. The room we stayed at the front of the property on the 1st floor was spaceous and decorated in keeping with a nice county cottage, the only thing not in keeping was the bedside lamps but that's nitpicking really. There was tea and coffee available plus shortbread biscuits. We all slept well.
Breakfast was a good hearty and tasty full English with juices, tea / coffee and cereals also available. Again our hosts were warm and welcoming and didn't mind us cluttering up their kitchen with various baby bits and pieces as we tried to keep the young boy either asleep or entertained.
Overall, we thought that this was a great little B&B in a nice tranquil spot in the Blackdown Hills. We would definitely recommend as this for us represented great value for money.
