Pigeon Island Beach and Fort Rodney Tour
Reviewed April 4, 2018 via mobile

As a portion of a tour we were suppose to have 2 hours at Reduit Beach with chairs and changing area instead we were taken to Pigeon Beach for 45 minutes, no chairs, no changing rooms. The area was overcrowded and just not enticing - So, we walked the beach and then went across the street to the Atlantic Ocean side which was much prettier but too rough for swimming and just enjoyed the sights and sounds until time to return to ship. Disappointing.

Shared taxi to this beach from cruise port was expensive ($20 with 5 people sharing). The beach is not wonderful with almost grey sand. There is a bar where you can buy beer, water etc. Whole area felt shabby.

We were there last week and it was absolutely awful. Locals would not leave you alone at all. They literally were begging for money or to sell you something. Didn’t matter what you said they wouldn’t leave. One kept trying to put alo Vera on my leg..I was in tears before that particular one left me alone. The entire beach and water was so full of rocks it wasn’t even enjoyable. I would not recommend it

We took a taxi to this beach and i would say it is about 20 mins from the cruise port,it is another superb Caribbean beach, beautiful white soft sand ,miles of beach to just have a nice stroll along, plenty of sun loungers and brolly's.You are always better having a brolly for when the sun gets really hot,you can just stroll into the sea for a nice swim but then have a brolly there because you will need to get out the hot sun now and again. There is every thing you need by way of food and cold drinks, loved it and will be back again next year.

On the plus side this beach has plenty of parking, taxi service, and a half-dozen shops and eateries near the road. On the minus side, the 50-meter-wide wide strip between the beach and shops is more mud than sand, and the beach is wedged between the Pigeon Island National Park and Sandals resort, both of which have nicer-looking beaches and better snorkeling too. You are free to enter the Sandals beach, but you can only use the beach within about 15 feet of the water -- as the area beyond that is roped off. And, of course, you can't use any of their chairs, swings, etc.
