Description: Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

My wife and I were in Chicago for a few relaxing holiday days, and wanted something different for supper our first night. It was a Wednesday, so most places were relatively not busy. The Hofbrauhaus was a few blocks away so we walked to check it out, as it had good ratings on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. Great service and good food. We shared an order of Kartoffelpuffer recommended by our waitress, fine choice! Our meals were Jagerschnitzel and Kasser Rippchen. Both were done perfectly with great flavors! They also have a great beer selection! Little side note, they were issued the first liquor license of any restaurant by the city of Chicago! Worth the stop!

We love the fun atmosphere here. It's always packed! Like the rest of the establishments in this plaza, it is expensive, but, if you consider the "free" entertainment, it's worth it. There is a band, "spankings" and standing on the chairs. Love it! Normal size draft beer- $8, small side of spatzel- $5

Great fun, great food, great beer, great Oompah music. All great! What more can I say. It is a big room full of loads of people having fun with a band that has giant Alphorns (?). Drink lots, eat lots and enjoy!

Fantastic place to celebrate Oktoberfest or have a good German dinner. Very large restaurant with a live band and lots of audience participation. The food and Service are very good. Parking at a nearby garage is validated and free when you eat at the restaurant.

The beer selection is very good, and food selection has something for everyone, but some really good german dishes. I had sausages which were excellent. I had Oktoberfest beer, which I was not that impressed with, but the Dunkel is outstanding. The entertainment is lively - Think Oompah band playing Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash - but it makes the entire place very loud.
