“Excellent base for some great mountain biking”
Reviewed August 22, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

This quiet extremely well equipped studio is spacious and comfortable with stunning views. The surrounding area is perfect for "from the door" bike rides and walks. The stiperstones are just 10 minutes away by bike and the lanes, tracks and bridleways of Shropshire are excellent fun and very quiet. There are many additonal options by driving just a short distance to the Long Mynd or Wenlock Edge or across in to the Welsh borders. There are so many options for rides from here that we will definitely be back to sample more.

“Salopian Retreat”
Reviewed July 24, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Having recently spent four nights staying in The Stiperstones Studio, (perfect for 2) we can report that everything exceeded our expectations. This first class, stylish accommodation, set in a more remote area of Shropshire is spotless, beautifully kept and provides peace and quiet, views, walks and interesting towns and villages within driving distance. There is a secluded patio set amongst a cottage garden beyond the veg plot. It was lovely to sit there admiring the views over the fields, the black and white cows and the hills beyond. We had a very warm welcome from our hosts who provided us with a starter pack and later delicious salad leaves fresh from the garden.

I particularly appreciated the small things - plenty of towels, t towels and all the items needed to wash up etc! Fully equipped - there was nothing we needed that we did not find there. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding good quality.( View from the bed was rather addictive)!

A lovely place to watch the sunset from is outside the Callow Hill pub. A must for visits further afield - Ludlow on a market day. Go up church tower,(small charge). Its worth it. Also Ironbridge. From the Ironbridge walk upwards through any of the small alleyways on the hillside passing tiny odd shaped cottages, pubs, churches etc, to get a real feel of the place.

Would thoroughly recommend Lower Shelve Farm for an escape from the stresses of life.

“Great Stay”
Reviewed May 24, 2011 for a stay in May 2011

We stayed in the studio apartment and were a bot worried about the size as it was a studio but there was no need it was large and comfortable with an amazing sofa. The rooms were cleaned to an exceptionally high standard and all the fittings were modern. There were information packs provided for all types of activities and if you are into walking there is a path straight from the back into fields and public walkways.

The owners were lovely and provided tea, milk, biscuits and some fresh salad leaves from their garden not to mention what looked like homemade marmalade. The kitchen was fully equipped like your kitchen at home and not all like a self catering apartment which can sometimes be sparse.

Only negative was that the heaters did not seem to heat up very much but the studio was warm enough and it didn't bother us. Overall an excellent experience at a great price and i have very high standards.

Management Response

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Weather has been bizarre for temperature(and wind!) recently and storage radiators are difficult to regulate - but there is a panel heater and a coal effect fan heater should things need a boost (and fans if they need to go the other way). We will look at enhancing the information book to explain the additional heating. I'm just happy you were warm enough without the extras.

“Room with a View”
Reviewed April 9, 2011 for a stay in April 2011

The Studio at Lower Farm was a great find - serendipity indeed. Our hosts attended to our every need, advising us on walks, eating places, trips in the area and recommendations for local hostelries! My wife even came back with some plants donated from the gardens. The accommodation was fully equipped, including Sky TV which we did not feel the need to sample, it being sufficient to admire the views of Stiperstones in the far distance. A peaceful retreat ideally located for both short and long stays. Thank you Jean and Paul - Morris on.

Thanks for the review Tony - hopefully we'll meet up again soon. Perhaps come back and see what other new plants are unfurling later in the year, I'm sure more can be cloned!

“Come Back Again!”
Reviewed April 1, 2011 for a stay in March 2011

The views are wonderful, the countryside idyllic, the accommodation is first class. For a couple who like some space "Cranberry Cottage" is warm, cosy and private. Complete with a separate bedroom (the doonas are beautifully warm) bathroom, lounge/dining & a fully equipped kitchen it is all you need for a great self-catering holiday. We explored the countryside, ate at small pubs, local cafes and a one star Michelin restaurant, visited castles, Stately piles and met lots of friendly locals. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer!

“Fantastic Rural Retreat”
Reviewed March 25, 2011 for a stay in March 2011

We’ve just spent a wonderful few days in The Studio barn apartment which must have the best view of any holiday cottage we’ve stayed in! A really well equipped place with everything we needed and considering the bedroom and living room are one area, it’s really spacious. Cows, sheep, farm cats and loads of different types of birds (we saw a circling buzzard that was just incredible!) can all be seen from the window sill. There’s a lovely patio area too, but it was a bit cold whilst we were there. There’s loads of walking from the doorstep too, from a half hour stroll to Shelve Pool to a whole day’s walk to the Devil’s Chair on the Stiperstones. And if that’s all a bit too energetic, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are only half an hour away respectively and they both have theatre, history, shopping and fantastic food; the Ludlow Food Centre and Battlefield 1403 (Shrewsbury) are two deli style local food shops with fantastic cafes. Between the walking, the scenery and the eating, we couldn’t have found a better place to stay. Oh, and our cat, Duffy, had a whale of a time too. Four days definitely weren’t enough and we will certainly be back soon!

“Christmas Day 2010 - A True Winter Wonderland”
Reviewed February 7, 2011 for a stay in December 2010

I was visiting my sister for Christmas and time only allowed a stay of 2 nights in the studio. The big freeze was well underway and all around it looked and felt like the Arctic but the owners had put on the heating for us and the place was toasty. The bedroom/lounge was large and spacious with an apex ceiling and the tv stand, wardrobe, full size sofa, chairs and double bed easily fitted in so you certainly aren't cramped for space. It had one of the most comfortable beds of any accomodation I've stayed in for many years and it was spotless. The separate kitchen/dining area had everything you would need for a self catering holiday and the owners had kindly provided us with some milk just in case we hadn't bought any. The adjoining shower room/toilet, whilst not massive, was more than adequate. Underneath the studio is a washing and drying room and although we didn't use it, it would be ideal for keeping muddy boots and wet clothes out of the studio. The property has wonderful views across the valley, is easy to get to, is very peaceful and seems ideally situated for exploring Shropshire either by car, on foot or on a bike. Take a look on Google Earth and Street View and you can see what it's like.
