The food was good, but just good. The prices are high for what they offer, but I’m all for supporting the locals. Didn’t understand why all prices are in USD when there is no US citizens traveling to Cuba? Majority are Canadian, European and other communist countries like Russia and China, NOT Americans!!! The conversion from the USD to any other currency is just another money grab for them and that I didn’t appreciate.

Others are posting the same experience, so you know it's happening! We asked our driver to take us to a different restaurant that we had just heard great things about. He tells us it's full, but he knows a place we can get in. Brings us here. Sits in the back drinking and eating with the staff like it's a reunion... Not cool!!

The restaurant was busy, yes, but not packed. We get a server in good time , and order drinks. We place our order for eight people at 7:20. Over half the items listed on the menu are no longer available, but they do not tell us to choose another option for almost half an hour. Our drinks arrive in a few minutes , and we start talking. We did NOT see a server at our table again until 8:35. Our drinks were long gone, no refills coming, and the table next to us for four who were sat after us, have eaten dinner and gone already. One of our crew gets up and tries to talk to the server, who is clearly unaware we are still there. After 10 more mins, she comes back to take a second round of drink orders, but no sign of our food. After talking to the server a second time, we finally get our meals. When the food actually arrives, at 9:25, the portions are quite small, everything is bland and mushy, and the people who ordered the special with lobster have to strain to find it. We are pretty much the last table to get food for the evening, the band has left already, and they are closing.

We have been to Cuba before, and were not expecting the world's best food, but this was sub sub-par, even for Cuba. The kicker is that they would only accept US $ or Euros for the payment, and added a service fee to the bill already, so we had to tip. Personally, my meal was three piles of shredded beef, pork and chicken with a pile of rice, and with two local beers, my bill was $78.00USD?? Really?? I took a group of 8 for pizza at lunch, and our whole bill was less than that!!

Any cab driver who brings you here is NOT your friend! They have a deal with the restaurant, and you are paying for it!!

Beware cab driver will take you to this restraunt down a back alley and tell you it’s the best.

We were told by our bus host not to pay for food in town with US dollars. Convert money and pay in Cuban better deal.

This place is in US dollars 3 times more than In Town and they do not take visa or know how to convert Cuban dollars to pesos

We insisted they tell us how much in Cuban pesos cause that’s all I brought as well as my visa - they don’t take.

Clearly they did the conversion wrong and we knew we didn’t have enough money so we told them we were leaving. Nothing was on the grill at this point.

They were not happy and asked us to have the cab driver pay for us and give him the money later.

We said forget it got a cab to downtown varedero and ate for much cheaper prices

Our tourist guide recommended this place on our tour of Matanzas. It is down a back alley and I'm sure you'd have a heck of a time finding it if you didn't know exactly where to go. The food was incredible (especially by Cuban standards) and the atmosphere was great. It's an outdoor restaurant with an indoor vibe.

I give it a 4/5 because it is definitely a tourist trap... the prices are extremely expensive, even before the mandatory tip.

I have never felt more betrayed or disgusted, by what me and my family went threw. The horse and buggy deivers look for tourists, so they can bring them to the most expensive restaurant you have ever been to. They charged my family 300$ USD just for lunch. Plus the driver then charged us 20$ for a two hour ride. Sorry 20$ per person. Which they didn't explain until after it was over. Do not go to this place. Literally stick to the main town and the government run restaurants. Unbelievable ruined the whole trip and left feeling so filthy.
