After boating on the lake and canoeing on the river, it was nice to sit on the 100 foot porch in the hammock and relax! The rooms are large and the atmosphere is very relaxing. It is only 30 minutes to Miami University and 45 minutes to Cincinnati Airport. There are many outdoor activities available in Brookville.

Room Tip: Martha has 3 king sized beds, 2 full beds and 1 room with twins.

We had a wonderful stay with Martha, the proprietor! The house is just amazing. Every room brought a new story and I was like a kid in a candy store just looking at all the architectural details. Beautiful setting right on the river too. We will definitely visit again. Thank you, Martha!

We stayed here for parents weekend when all the area hotels more than doubled their prices and most were sold out. The drive to IN from Oxford is quaint and quick, with cornfields abounding.

This B&B has 6 bedrooms that share 3 bathrooms. The bathrooms have huge tubs, with shower wands, so be prepared. It is not your typical shower. Towels are abundant however, as are shampoo, body wash, and a hairdryer.

Our room was a huge King bedroom with a ceiling fan and 2 large windows. It was clean and comfortable. Wifi was not readily available, even with a password, and TV was only available in the common area.

The best part of staying at this B&B was the inn keeper Martha. She is a lovely woman who seems to really enjoy sharing her knowledge and her home with her guests. She personally makes breakfast for each guest in the morning, This is not a come at a certain time for a standard breakfast kind of place. Rather, Martha asks what time you will be coming down for breakfast, and then when you arrive she asks you what you would like and prepares it fresh. During our stay we had eggs to order, blueberry muffins, french toast and sausage. All prepared fresh and delicious.

Although we spent the majority of our time in Oxford visiting with our student, the property itself is lovely and has many quiet places to sit both inside and out. Martha was always ready with coffee and a smile in the morning, as well as a welcome home at the end of the day.

What a wonderful time the four of us had at the Hermitage this past weekend! We were Christmas shopping in Metamora, but didn't want to stay there. The town of Brookville and the Hermitage is about 15 minutes away and a truly lovely place. The innkeeper/owner, Martha Shea is a fount of historical information and a true delight! On the weekend we were there, it was just us 4 "girls" and Martha, and it felt like we were visiting our own mom or aunt! Food and presentation was fantastic! Just can't say enough! Lovely, lovely place - we will be back!

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with any of them!

This was a Fabulous stay, a hidden gem in Brookville, IN. The Innkeeper, Martha was outstanding, she asked us when we'd like our breakfast, made sure we had everything we could possibly need & even brought me a needle & thread for a quick repair I needed. I would recommend this great B&B to anyone & my next trip to Brookvile I'll be sure to stay at The Hermitage!!

My family and i stayed here over the July 4th weekend. It corresponded with CanoeFest that Brookvillle holds every year. (This is an experience in itself that if you have achance to ever witness, i would suggest going. Canoe racing, Concert, beauty pageant, Fried Chicken Contest-You can be in it or pay to judge!) It was located only a block from the festival so we walked to and from it with ease. It's a lovely old home full of history. Martha Shae the owner is also the towns historian and along with her sisters (Who visit quite a bit) can tell you all about the place. The rooms are all finished tastefully in an "ol' timey" feel. The grounds that it sits on are very pretty as well and within a short walk to the river.
The house is awesome. The Library is full of old books that are there for you to read or flip through. Don't be scared, but there is a stuffed Peacock at the top of the stairs. It's been there for over 100 years. My favorite part is probably the guest sign in book in the entryway. It has been with the house since around 1900 when it was an artist colony and has entries from way back then.

What a wonderful weekend I spent in the historic town on Brookville, Indiana! Located between the east and west forks of the Whitewater River, it is an experience of historic homes, old churches and cemeteries, beautiful hills and lush river valleys. But truly the highlight of my visit was my stay at the Hermitage Bed and Breakfast. What a beautiful old home. To wake each morning to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking in the kitchen, to sitting around the kitchen table with your cup of coffee and the morning banter of good friends, the warm and homey feeling of coming home is everywhere. Martha Shea, inn keeper, cook and bottle washer, historian, art promoter, preservationist and story teller, makes all of her guests feel the warmth and love of staying in a special place.
