This was our first visit to a LaQuinta and we were very satisfied. The Columbus, IN location is newly remodeled and immaculate. Breakfast and the 24-hour coffee were amazing. Staff couldn't have been more helpful as we needed adjustments to our reservation just prior to arrival and we needed help navigating the area. Other than the fact that there are few dining choices within safe walking distance (we were located on the opposite side of the interstate to many desirable restaurants), we had no negatives. The beds are wonderful and the decor, bathroom and amenities are terrific. LaQuinta is a new competitor for my hotel dollars.

I reserved our room for two nights around two weeks in advance. Two hours on the day of check in they called me and said they had overbooked our room for the first night. They paid for us to stay in the Sleep Inn up the street, ( the Sleep Inn was a nice hotel). The next day we had to check out of the Sleep Inn at 11am and we couldn't check into La Quinta until 3pm. We basically had 4 hours to kill without a room. Any way Ill probably choose Sleep Inn on my next stay in this town.

I booked 6 rooms through Priceline for a one night stay and it turned out to be a disasterous one night stay.
Two of the members of our party called for an advance night stay and somehow the reservation got added to the Priceline reservation (not supposed to be possible), Long story short .. we received letters to our rooms in the middle of the night advising us to check at the desk ASAP to arrange for payment of our room, One of the guests actually received a phone call from the desk at 7:00 A.M. waking them and advising them of same matter. We had discussed this confusion upon check in the day before and I thought all was understood . the two parties that checked in early were separate reservations and would be paid for separately. They had both advised the front dest upon check in but their credit cards were repeatedly refused as payment. I am totally tolerant of simple basic mistakes but when we had repeatedly discussed this, I thought all was resolved only to see it continue into the next day. This was totally unacceptable. My night's sleep interrupted and aggravated at the total amount of chaos and lack of intelligence and consideration, I wrote a letter to the corporate office to advise them of this issue the following week. No response ever came from Corporate but I did receive a call from the manager at this Columbus, Indiana location to offer her "apology".
Way too little... too late.

This was my first visit to any LaQuinta properties and am totally disappointed with their organization. They also need to revise their description of their breakfast. A few dry muffins ,dry cereal, some under cooked sausage and a make your own waffle is not deluxe in my book.

The (lack of ) response from their Corporate office and this total experience is enough for me to never recommend the LaQuinta Inn chain again.

Room Tip: Pay with cash and plan on breakfast somewhere else in Columbus

Extremely helpful and efficient in helping with reception. Did everything they could do to assist with the reception. Very friendly and courteous.

This hotel is relatively new, has decent rooms, offers a great complimentary breakfast and is very well priced. Unless you book way in advance, it is virtually impossible to get a hotel in the Bloomington area for Indiana University's graduations. Consider this hotel a contender. It is a good 45 minutes from Bloomington, so you will need to factor that into your travel time to the university. While I can't say I was fond of route 46's winding curves, especially during one of Indiana's infamous rainstorms, I can say that we paid one third of the cost for a hotel. Our room was not the cleanest, alas; however, with a breakfast that included fresh omelettes, delicious sausage, yogurt, milk, orange and apple juice, cereals, bagels, fruit, waffles and more -- I could hardly complain. The hotel is "pet friendly," but I'm happy to report I saw no "evidence" of the possible repercussions of this. The front lobby was professionally staffed. The hotel is not much to look at from the outside, but don't let this give you pause. It's a hands down bargain between the complimentary breakfast (and perhaps wine in the evening?), and the room cost. If you don't have a problem with the 45 minute drive to Bloomington, and you are not looking for a luxury hotel, give the La Quinta some serious thought. We did and looked forward to dashing downstairs for fresh coffee and a hot breakfast, as well as saving hundreds of dollars in hotel costs.
