Lovely place in a beautiful courtyard. The food is amazing, you can have some well known classics as pasta alla carbonara but mainly unfamiliar creations that only have one thing in common - the great taste. We have been there several times during our vacation and were never disappointed. All the pasta dishes (my personal favorites were the gnocchi with nettle and the spaghetti 1492) but also the main dishes (if you are meat lovers go for the tagliata robbespierre) are highly recommendable. As for desserts we did not have any space left too often, but the hot chocolate cake and the caramelized apple were also unforgettable.
Besides they have a decent wine list.
The familiar atmosphere is just the icing on the cake - a very friendly and attentive service where you feel that everyone working there is doing it with their full heart.
Next time we will be near Verbania, we will definitely be back.
In the evening a reservation is recommendable.

At first few dishes were out of the menu, secondly, after we ordered, one of the dish we ordered was also out of the menu so they brought us another dish without asking us (!!) so we had to order a new dish which tasted horrible so we didn't touch it. The service was poor, when we paid the bill they didn't care less why we didn't taste the dish.
We definitely don't recommend this restaurant and for sure won't come back.

Pierre, the chef & owner, has an amazing palate that designs delicious dishes. If I lived in the neighborhood I'd give up cooking & eat here only. We ate here twice and loved every bite. The buffalo mozzarella with oranges, olives and onion was sublime, as was the macaroni & guanciale. For my second dinner I tried the cacao ravioli with ricotta, ground duck with orange and goat cheese sprinkled with candied orange - absolutely without equal. Such delightful and original flavor combinations! Pierre was charming, talking on both nights to the guests, and our server Monica helped us make good decisions about wine. She was friendly and warm but still "real" - easy to imagine meeting her for an espresso to 'dish' on the neighbors! Eating here twice and I felt like family. Pierre works miracles in his kitchen and has earned 5 stars for originality and delicious meals - I would eat here every night & love every bite!!

Having read the comments here, made sure to visit this nice restaurant. It was situated in a very quiet location, so very close to our hotel which was a plus for us. Being a party of 5, we all ordered different dishes along with a red Veneto wine by Farina. Each pasta and meat course, including a hamburger were all a dainty experience. They were nothing like we ate before in Italy. The tastes and flavors made it an experience definitely worth a try. Especially the gnocchi was divine.

We easily found the Osteria off a narrow street up from the lake. Entering into a courtyard we received a very friendly welcome to this interesting family run place.
A very interesting menu and we chose different types of beef, both of which were absolutely delicious, accompanied by tasty potatoes and salad. We chose from the range of wines by the glass. This was a really enjoyable meal.
We went back to the Osteria for our last meal in Verbania on a Sunday evening but very sadly they were closed, which was a big disappointment to us.
We would certainly visit again if we come back to the area.
