My boyfriend and I spent a 1 night weekday stay at the Inn at the end of March as a quick get-away and it did not disappoint! Our room was the English Rose which did in fact have a lovely side view of the Ohio river, as advertised. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and cozy. Immediately on check-in the inn keeper offered us warm cookies which were delicious. She also quickly found us warm blankets to sit outside with. It is a beautiful area with all the quiet granduer expected from a small country town. Even though the weather was cold we enjoyed sitting in the gazebo and taking in the sights and sounds of nature, complete with a heard of grazing deer who came a stones throw away! Also if you get tired of the natural wonder every room has free wireless internet, cable complete with HBO, an impressive DVD library and large flat screen TVs.

While touring through the northern states. We were after somewhere to stop around the Louisville area, with our 12 year old son, while we visited 'Holiday world' theme park. I stumbled on this establishment while looking at the maps of the area. We usually stop at major 'Chain' hotels when we are vacationing in the states so this was very much a break from the norm for us. I have to admit that I was a little concerned about whether we had made a bad choice. I need not have worried. The bed and breakfast is charming. We stopped in the only twin bedded suite which was clean and well presented. The more 'romantic' rooms for couples, without children, look great. Breakfasts were freshly prepared and varied daily. Yes its a little off the beaten track and there are perhaps only two local restaurants in the immediate area. The 'overlook', which stands high on a hill and looks down on the Ohio River below, was very good. There are a number of good tourist attractions in the area which are easy to get to. This place would be great for a long weekend for couples and I guess familys who want something a little quieter. This BandB more than served its purpose on our trip.

My husband and I just spent a night at the Inn celebrating our anniversary. It was our first stay there, and I reserved the Gardenia Room in the Gardener's Cottage. The room was large (bedroom, sitting room, and bath) and the the bathroom with the beautiful clawfoot tub was great. We liked the furnishings and hardwood floors. Not a spectacular view, but nice just the same. We had a front porch with wood rockers that we enjoyed- and we were a bit surprised to return from dinner to find other guests using them! Seemed a bit rude to us, but they didn't stay long. I am sure many would find the area too quiet and boring, but we loved the peace and quiet. We had been in Corydon the day before (about 20 miles away), and we also toured the Squire Boone Caverns there. It is a pretty good little hike back up the spiral staircase from the bottom of the cave, so be prepared if you are not somewhat in shape.

All in all we enjoyed the Leavenworth Inn. The receptionist was friendly, breakfast was fine, and they do have tons of movies if you enjoy watching those in the evening. There is also a common building with a small but nice fitness room (stairclimber, treadmill, weights), and a nice family room with a large flat screen tv. Fresh coffee is left outside your door in the hallway around 7:00 AM - I thought that was a nice touch.

We stayed in the Holly Room, which is advertised as having a view of the Ohio River. The room was actually very nice -- it was very large and comfortable but really had no view of the river since the Inn is on the land side of the highway and the trees were full of leaves. The room was clean when we checked in but the most important thing is that you have to let them know that you want your room cleaned each day! After we checked in we noticed a door hanger that said "Check Room" (or something like that) on one side and "Towels Only" on the other side. When we left for our day's activities we did not use the door hanger, assuming that someone would come in and at least straighten the room. When we returned at the end of the day, the room was exactly as we had left it. Apparently if you do not use the door hanger they will not do anything, but we were not told that on check-in and we even specificaly asked if there was anything else we should know about the facility. A big disappointment! The common facilities such as the den, property with walking path, deck and tennis court were very nice. The Overlook restaurant which is across the road has mediocre food but absolutely incredible views up and down the Ohio River. The $6 voucher for breakfast might not cover the complete cost of a full breakfast but it comes close. Would recommend this place with the requirement that room cleaning is either done automatically or options are clearly identified to clients.
