I have traveled to many parts of this world, and honestly Francesca's place is one of my most favorite to visit. I have stayed here about six times and plan to return again and again. The accommodations are amazing. It is incredible how one can feel as if they've stepped back into Italy's past, while at the same time still being able to enjoy the creature comforts of today. It is both rustic and yet luxurious... simple and yet eloquent. The Villa is the PERFECT get-a-way for anyone who is tired of the tourist traps and wants to experience the "Real Italy." It's peaceful and beautiful picturesque scenery is perfect for those who want to escape from the worldly stress that we find ourselves. As for Francesca herself... she is simply amazing - beautiful inside and out. Whether you are staying there alone, or with a group, she will go out of her way to make your stay exactly want you need / want. I really want to go back RIGHT NOW!! I hope and pray that you can experience this wonderful / mystical place for yourself.
What makes this place so special is the love that has gone in to the creation of this beautiful 'home from home' by the owner. Within 1.5hrs drive of central Rome set amongst its own olive trees astride two valleys, the house is totally charming. The surrounding area has enough points of interest nearby but it is mercifully free of the tourist hoards seen in neighbouring Umbria and Tuscany. A quiet, calm oasis!
This place is fantastic----the location feels completely like Tuscany yet you are just about an hour away from Rome by car or train so transportation logistics are easy. One can easily take the train from nearby Poggio Mirteto to Rome and connect to a fast train to Florence for another day trip. Orvieto (not to be missed) is just an hour away and there are plenty of small hill towns to explore close by. The villa is very comfortable and private and the host Francesca is incredibly helpful and accommodating. We spent a lot of time just relaxing by the pool and enjoying the covered patio with barbecue. This was our third trip and we can't wait to return!
We have been visiting Il Tuliano since 2010. This is our third time. The villa is perfect for our group of 5 friends. We enjoy cooking in the kitchen, grilling on the patio, and eating on the covered patio. The location on a hilltop in an olive grove with views across the valleys is enchanting. The swimming pool is wonderful as well. The location in Cantalupo has easy access to grocery stores in Cantalupo and Poggio Mirteto. We have enjoyed nearby Casperia as a place for lunches and cooking classes. We have over the years driven to many hill towns including Orvieto, Assisi, Montelcino, and Spoleto. The owner, Francesca, is always helpful and supportive of all our needs. This is a wonderful place to rest and taste the best of Italy.
