“ok for a quick stop just to rest”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2011

We stopped here twice on the way to Washington DC and back. This hotel is ok if just there for sleeping which we were. We did spend time in the pool which water temperature was nice but the room the pool was in was too warm. It was hard to sit in it to watch the kids as it was too hot.

Breakfast was ok and area is not large enough to accomodate all of the people eating. The 2nd night we found an empty gatorade bottle in the room when we entered. The hallway did smell smoky and while there was no smoking there was an ashtray right outside the side door which people smoked and that drifted in.

We stopped here on our way out to Colorado. The hotel was fine, the staff was fine. If you are looking for someplace that's not over-priced for a bunch of frills you do not need then this hotel is worth the price. For an overnight stopping place I would recommend this hotel.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT stay at this hotel. The front desk staff is extremely rude, uncaring, and poorly trained. The management is absolutely horrendous, and don't even think to do so much as say "hello" to the housekeepers- all you'll get is a mean glare. I was also not pleased to find a dirty toilet and soiled sheets laying on the floor in my room upon arrival, however I overlooked it the first night. Finding hair in my breakfast food was the last straw for me, (it's not a good topping on a danish roll.) This was my first and only stay at this hotel. I left after the first day (I was in town visiting the local college where my daughter attends) and went to the Best Western on US-40, which has much better rooms, staff, and location. If you do decide to stay at this Comfort Inn, GOOD LUCK.

We were on a motorcycle trip from Oklahoma to Canada. We did not really intend to stop in Richmond. Our Harley bent a valve. We stopped at the Harley Davidison Center in Richmond when the bike started giving us trouble. We were there overnight while they repaired the bike. The owner of the Harley shop drove us to the hotel since we were a foot. There was a Bob Evans Restaurant right in front of the hotel. He thought it would be a good choice since there were lots of other businesses in walking distance. The room was average. We requested a nonsmoking room. The room door had a nonsmoking sign but the room definately smelled of smoke. The hotel had a free breakfast which was ok. We had toast and bagels with coffee and juice. We made some fresh waffles which was nice. We called the desk to request a late check out time. We explained our motorcycle was in the shop and we should know by noon if we would need an additional nights stay. She gave us a 1pm check out time. We walked the half mile to the Harley shop to check on our bike. They told us the bike would be ready sometime that day. We walked back to the hotel to shower and check out. Since we were having to walk back to the Harley shop we asked the clerk if we could leave our suitcase. She allowed us to leave our suitcase until we returned on the bike later that afternoon. They were very accomodating considering our situation. Nice room for the price.

Room Tip: Our room was on the east side. A highway runs on that side but it was very quiet

The price was only OK and we didn't have reservations, but we wouldn't go back. The hotel has only the main entrance and then stairs at the two far corners - no elevator - and the stairs are convenient for only the closest rooms. I guess they figure this is your daily workout. ha!

The beds (we had a double-double) were some of the worse I've ever slept on in over 30 years of hotel traveling. Both had seen serious usage and noticeably slumped to the middle. I slept very badly and then woke to an aching back and shoulders.

I do not recommend unless you check out the room first and the bed works for you.

Room Tip: Check the room before saying yes to one!

We stayed here over the holidays while traveling with our two young children. The staff was excellent. The hotel is older but seems to have had some renovations. The TV only had local channels even though cable was advertised on a mini sign in the room. They did have easy to use wifi and a pool that the kids enjoyed. However, the pool did reek of chlorine and unfortunately the hot tub was closed. I could hear a baby screaming next door throughout the night, but I have a 7 mo so it wasn't difficult to fall back asleep. Breakfast in the morning included typical danishes, bagels, breads, etc. but also belgian waffles. We wanted something right off the interstate and this hotel looked better than the one across the street.

This hotel and the Super 8 across the street are by far the closest hotels to the hospital, which make them quite a bit more convenient for grabbing a shower and a few precious hours of sleep when your loved one is in the hospital. It is an older Comfort Inn, but I believe it is quite a bit newer than the Super 8 which used to be a Howard Johnson, I think. It is fine for a decent night's sleep, although I admit that I didn't have a chance to spend much time there. (If you need a change of clothes, snacks or even flowers, etc. for your loved one, the Meijer across the street is very handy. I think it's open 24 hours.)
This hotel is just off Interstate 70 at the exit for highway 27, behind a Bob Evans. There are several fast food restaurants in the area.
The exit for highway 40 has quite a few newer hotels which would probably be my choice if I was in town for another purpose and wanted a fancier hotel.
