Review of Credit Island

This park actually rests on an island in the middle of the Mississippi. There is a road that loops the park which allows a person a number of opportunities to check out birds, other wild life, river traffic and get a close up look at the Mississippi river. The park is a fun spot to visit with kids and has a great deal of potential for use. Unfortunately, flooding and lack of public funding have driven it into a shadow of its former self.

We quite often ride out bikes through this park. It's nice, but there are always men hanging around looking for other men. It's disgusting and spooky. We try to just ignore them. Not a good place for a girl to ride or run alone though.

Though it has awesome history, this place is not where a stranger should find themselves. It really isn't a safe place to cycle and such. It isn't maintained well anyway as it floods annually and there just isn't money to keep it up any longer.

Credit Island Park has a history going back to the old trader days where trappers traded for "credit". There is a wonderful art exhibit, a golf course, many walking trails, playground equipment, picnic shelters, baseball diamonds, boat launch, and all the fishing opportunities that you could want!
Lucky :)

My 8 year old son and I went to this park over the Thanksgiving holiday and it was very nice/clean and well kept.
