This hotel is in the heart of the campus downtown area. The rooms are very modern with clean lines and eco-friendly if that is important to you. You have great views and lots of restaurants and bars are nearby. We would stay there again.

We had a great time staying here. We checked in late; but they were right there to check us in. We loved the room. We booked a balcony and it was worth it. Although it was raining most of the time we were there. We slept in wonderfully and the shades were drawn perfectly to wake you up with just enough light, not too much. The shampoo and soap were great. We always take our own; but I didn't even have to crack it open and my hair came out untangled. Beautiful tub! So quiet we felt like we were the only ones staying here. Great hotel and will be back if in the area again!

Room Tip: King balcony room was quiet. Were were on 4th floor.

If your doing anything downtown in Iowa City, you should consider the Hotelvetro. It is getting a little dated, but the rooms are clean and spacious. Price is not bad for a place where you can park it for the weekend.

Multiple Items taken from room by housekeeping staff. Initially desk staff offered $50 off night because said items were thrown away. Then offered free night. Did not make up for value of items taken. Unwashed ceramic cups in cabinet, shower door in disrepair - leaked substantially on floor. Bed unclean, staff did responded to change bed linen. Hair in shower. Dishonest staff and poor quality service made this a really uncomfortable stay that was surprising given the price of the room. Street people hanging out in eating area of bread company restaurant on first floor.

Cold concrete floors with cheap interiors. The rooms are not soundproofed so beginning at 6:00 am you can hear all the trucks that back up to the convention center. The television is oddly on a cheap table off to the right (you will need to see a chiropractor if you watch it from the bed for more than a few minutes). The only redeeming quality is the great location in the heart of downtown.
