Love staying at Hotel Pattee. Arrived late after a long day to a friendly, helpful staff. The bartender made a fantastic old fashioned with charred rosemary and orange peel. Slept great in the woodworkers room.

The Hotel Pattee is loaded with character. The rooms are quaint. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The lounge was nice. We had a decent night's sleep and really cannot think of anything negative to say.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Pattee in the charming small Midwest town of Perry, Iowa. The downtown area is like a scene out of a Norman Rockwell painting. There are plenty of coffee places and very cool antique shops. The town caters to bicycle riders, and there is a bike shop right next to the hotel that rents bikes.

One thing we noticed right away was how friendly the folks in town and at the hotel were. The Hotel Pattee is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms all have a different theme — and the attention to detail, the art work, and the beautiful wood trim in the building is fantastic. The front desk, as well as the bar and restaurant folks, were all very nice and helpful. We were there for a wedding, and the hotel did an absolute first-class job.

This hotel is worth going out of your way for if driving in the area. We had a five-star stay and give the Hotel Pattee our highest recommendation.

Historic but completely renovated hotel in small town with every room representing a different immigrant group that came to Perry, Iowa. Each room was meticulously researched and designed, often going overseas for authentic furniture and artifacts. We were in the Dutch room, and it had tiles and furniture and a nook that felt like Holland in the 18th century. Next to it was the Japanese room, which was totally Zen. That's the one I'm booking next time. Some rooms are like sleeping in a museum. Other rooms are themed around work, such as mining, woodworking, agriculture. Some others honor local figures. Great restaurant on site, and lively bar. Lovely lobby and an interesting 'library' off of the lobby for relaxing and reading.
This is a very, very unique property. Fitness center, no pool, but hot tub, sauna and steam rooms. Old style bowling alley in the basement.
Perry is on a number of bike trails, so a popular stop for cyclists.
Not much going on in town, shops open more weekends, so great to really relax.
Bike shop adjacent to rent bikes to hit the trails for a few hours.

Room tip: Look on-line at different rooms and select one that personally appeals.

We stayed at this beautiful historic hotel for three days. The rooms are all very uniquely decorated. We had a suite and it was very spacious including the bathroom. Nice view from the windows overlooking the sculptures. It was very quiet, we never heard any noise. There was always a delicious plate of cookies out in the hallway when we came in at night. The location is perfect - we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go including the Scottish Fox, a lovely shop right out the back door! Would definitely stay there again.
