The Black Lion is situated about 6 miles North of the Valley village crossroads and was reopened in the summer of 2012. It has a comprehensive menu and daily specials are on a board in the entrance. Unfortunately, they are not repeated anywhere else, so you need a reminder from the staff. There are a couple of large rooms and some quiet corners. As the walls and floor are bare the noise is amplified by the surroundings as there are few soft furnishings at present to deflect the noise. We were quickly served with menus and then a drinks order quickly followed by another member of staff who wished to repeat the drinks order, but she took our meal orders instead. This haphazard method of serving was repeated through the evening so we never knew who our server was. The food was excellent and cooked to order. The fish and chips were particularly good. The desserts were also original and local produce was used where possible.
Apart from the haphazard service a very good evening was had by all our party.
