Met up with friends who own a brewery. We all drank Timothy Taylor’s Landlord from Keighley in Yorkshire. It had travelled very well. Two of us had beef and two lamb. They were both splendid and the puds were equally good. It snowed while we were eating which was charming. Even in darkest February you should book which shows what people think about this very friendly pub.

my partner and I booked for sunday lunch, we were welcomed in Welsh and English, staff very pleasant and helpful, for starters I had the pork belly and black pudding and my partner had the fish and chips which was a meal in itself, both meals very tasty, we both chose the roast lamb dinner and were surprised to see that the plates were piled high with food, very tasty lamb and super roast potatoes and the veg were nice but the leek sauce was exceptional, followed by llwy ar mon ice cream,we shall return as this sunday lunch is the next best thing to home cooking.

We called in to the Black Lion, after miles and miles of driving. We had booked a last minute break to the island, and was struggling to find anywhere that could fit us in.

We were very hungry so decided on two courses. My partner had leek & potato soup, was horrible. Couldn't taste any leek or potato...and was very watery. At £5.95 he ate it. My Garlic ciabatta with cheese was lovely. We both decided on fish of the day for main, which was Hake, of which we hadn't tried before. The dish was delicious, with lovely presentation. But for what we got £16.95 was rip off!! The drinks were very expensive too. Leaving with paying over £50, we felt very felt ripped off, and slightly disappointed :-(

Lovely friendly staff

If you want a real feel of what quality Welsh cuisine and welcome can be, this is the place to go. We have been many times, often with our dogs, and are never disappointed. Tonight was no exception, with quality produce which really stood out. Not to mention the huge welcome from the staff and owner, Marie, who really make the experience a memorable one every time. It’s great to see a restaurant making the most of the produce available around, and it shows in the quality and taste of the wonderful dishes. Thank you.
