My husband and I took the tour, and we will be coming back with the kids. It's a lot of walking, but there are benches here and there which help. I liked the videos and audio clips. It was pretty neat seeing how people lived way back when. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the $5 admission.

Take a stroll thru history while you walk the grounds of the old fort. The park service has done a great job of filling in the gaps when it comes to the history of the fort and nearby Hays. You won't be disappointed when you visit here.

The staff member took us to the officer's quarters and patiently explained what we were looking for. It's easy to image living on the plains in the 1880's just by being here. Only the O quarters, block house and jail are still here but the grounds are laid out so you can see where things were and how the soldiers and their wives lived. Interesting place.

All though there are not much of the original features left to see we found it very interesting and the film that you
see before makes it very clear how important the Fort was to the area and to the travellers on the trail from the East
thtough to the West.
The grounds are well kept and ideal to a stroll on a sunny day.
