This is a rare, local, non-chain restaurant, serving lunch from a fixed menu. I love the little pastry tray they bring around after the entrees. The cakes are sweet and pretty. The chocolate selection is big and it's all worth a visit!

I am a long time Andres fan. Started in 1970 on the Plaza and continues today at both locations. Never a bad experience! Staff friendly and helpful. Menu sometimes limited but always good. If you need "dinner tonight", purchase frozen entrees, soups and sides in the freezer. Don't forget a dessert.

Hidden gem that everyone who visits loves as long as pleased with the daily menu offerings. Homemade menu changes every day, but always include as quiche or cheese pie. Desserts, breads and Swiss confections are to die for! Can purchase confections, desserts and some frozen goods to go. Open for lunch only. Check menu on line before you go.

What can I say about this sweet spot in Kansas City? It is admittedly where I use any and all special occasions as a reason to celebrate at Andre's. My heart has belonged to Andre's for over 25 years now, both locations are excellent. If you want a more modern feel - then 119th is great. If you want the original charming atmosphere, go downtown - at least once. But the food . . . it is delicious and always the same no matter which location. The dining experience is different than most, they rotate a menu that is published online and offer a few entrees to choose from daily on top of their staple quiches. The quiches are good, but go for one of the daily offerings if possible. Save the quiches for when nothing else interests you that particular day. The pricing is also unique, it is a one price fits all for the lunches. But you get a beverage, bread, entree w/ sides, and last but not least, a dessert. And there is the magic - I hesitate to even share with newbies my favorite because I often have to ask that they hold it back for me when I order the main course just to be sure I get one - they often sell out. The Napoleon is hands down the best in the region, if not the country. I have tried others in New York, Philly, etc, and NOT even close. They are delicious. If you are a chocolate fan then go for the other local favorite the chocolate matterhorn. They serve excellent coffee and iced tea. It is a luncheon only schedule, so check hours and menus before going to have the best experience. If you happen to spot a day where they offer the brisket, and you like brisket (not bbq brisket) - try it! Entrees are usually served with a specific side salad - but if you want one that is mentioned with another entree you can ask to switch the side. Avoid Rum infused tarts unless you LOVE rum that is not offset by sugar, they are on the bitter side.
If you love Suisse inspired food, you have to make it to Andre's!
