I was at the hotel for a conference that was right across the street. This hotel is awesome. Staff is so friendly and helpful, rooms are beautiful. All kinds of resturants with in walking distance. Cobble stone streets. I loved this hotel. Would recommend to everyone.

hubby and i stayed here for weekend getaway. very convenient to all the old town attractions. beautiful building. enjoyed the music in the the lobby bar. wish we could have had an indoor balcony for the music with the view of the city.... very clean and comfortable. loved seeing the historic photos and other items. i've stayed here before and will again when opportunity arises.

Old Town is a pleasant hotel in an interesting section of Wichita.

Most Wichita area hotels, like many other places, are set in a suburban office park or similar setting. If you want to see anything interesting, you need to get in a car and drive. Even walking is not very interesting.

The Hotel at Old Town has the appeal of being in an interesting area, one you can walk in and find interesting places to see, some good restaurants, and, well . . . see other people walking as well. Although there are a couple of other hotels in the Old Town area, this hotel is the only one that is in an interesting renovated building designed in the 19th century. The hotel is a copy of the design of the famous Cupples building in Saint Louis. They've not only kept the building for the Old Town hotel, they've collected some of the knives and scissors manufactured when the building was originally used as a factory for the Keen Kutter company. The renovation has been extensive, so the interior is completely modern, as is the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

The hotel rooms are good hotel rooms, on a par with a typical Hilton or Marriott. There are a few little touches missing from the hotel that have become standard in large chain hotels, but these missing items are minor, not enough to cause problems in your stay. The showers are a bit unusual, and there is no bath in most rooms. The room is so big that the 36 inch television seems almost small when viewed from the bed. The room has a kitchen, cupboards and refrigerator. The bed is very comfortable, with nice linens, pillows.

The staff at the hotel are always friendly and helpful on the rare occasions when you need to ask for something. The rooms are clean.

The breakfast buffet is average quality (but low price), about what you get in a typical Hilton or Marriott. You can't really order anything other than the buffet. I guess they've found that the vast majority of guests just order the buffet, so they don't as a matter of course do custom requests. I suspect that they would accommodate you if you asked for something different. While not expert chefs, the breakfast staff are also very accommodating to guests.

You'll likely spend your evenings walking around Old Town, so location is one of the prime reasons for staying here.

One other note: Wichita doesn't have much in the way of traffic problems, so you can get anywhere in the Wichita area very quickly from the hotel. It's only about half a mile to two freeways.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are good

By far one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! We booked the jacuzzi suite and it did not disappoint. The room had an old world feel yet it had the modern amenities that we all love. This included a full fridge and freezer, microwave, wireless internet, and even a dishwasher! The decor in the room was really nice featuring turn of the century furniture, and a nice sitting area that over looked the Museum of World Treasures. The hotel it self is situated in what I would describe as the historic district which has an array of shops, and restaurants. I highly recommend taking the short walk to the River City Brewing Company for a couple pints of Tornado Alley IPA!

Room Tip: Two words....Jacuzzi Suite!

We are Shriner's and stay here each time we have to be in town for a Shrine event. Hotel is a step back in time, when luxury was a subtle and quiet experience. Hotel is clean with plush comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was very good, with adequate choices. Restaurants surrounding the area have wonderful food. Make sure you park on the upper levels of the parking garage, and although there is security walking the streets, this is a wild party atmosphere and vandalism and break ins could easily occur.

Old converted warehouse that is nicely appointed. The bathroom is huge although the shower configuration is a bit odd (make sure you put a few towels in front of the shower or you will have a flooded bathroom). No tub for those who like to have a soak. Very nice breakfast spread, nothing exotic, just good staples.

I've been to Wichita several times now - and still have to travel there for a few more times. Found this Hotel during one of my stays when going into the bars and restaurants downtown. The rooms are very nice - queen size beds, which are for me as European big enough, shower, TV, fridge, cooking spot - everything very useful. The rooms are clean and as I wrote above: the best thing is that the hotel is located downtown. So whenever you go to a bar you don't have to drink and drive - just go a few steps and you are in the room. The price is good, the only bad thing is the breakfast. Don't expect too much on that. Small choice of food but anyway it tastes good and the prepare it nice. The Hotel is 100% smoke free and equipped with free Wifi - and I hadn't had a room where it was not working.....
