We traveled to Hardin County to learn about our family history and trace our ancestors. This museum was a total gold mine of the local history. It is very well done and worth a visit if you want to learn about the area. Highly recommend.

If you enjoy local history, this free museum is an excellent way to get to know the community. Local volunteers will be glad to share.

This is a lovely little gem in Elizabethtown! I believe that it is often overlooked! It is a small museum and has some odd hours, but it is free (donations only) and has a variety of interesting items in it! While it is not exactly child friendly, the workers and volunteers are wonderful with children and my kids often ask to go! There are some interactive portions of the museum that are geared towards children, but you would need to closely monitor younger kids. However, they sometimes have figures from history (completely in costume) that are there to interact and make history seem a little more real! It is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area!

Housed in an old 1930 vintage post office. A large number of interesting items with an informed staff. Lots of Early Kentucky and Elizabethtown items. A must visit if you are interested in local history. It is free but if you visit drop something in the donation box.
