While staying locally (passing through) we stumbled across The Greyhound for an evening meal on a Monday evening when lots of other pubs were not servicing food. We were attracted to The Greyhound due to the number of diners eating. Myself and 2 friends decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed.
When entering we were attracted to the warm friendly atmosphere of the place. We asked for a table for 3 and were shown to a table - the last one availabe inside, and a very helpful waitress came to take our drinks order and hand us menu's. There was a good selection of food avaialble, based on traditional English cuisine..
Two of us ordered the steak and ale suet pudding and the other person had fish and chips. The food soon arrived and we were impressed by the size of the portions. The steak and ale pudding had a delicious red wind jus which really set the dish apart. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The fish and chips were also very good.
Because of the generous portion sizes we could not manage a dessert. The bill came to around £45 for drinks and 3 main courses. The price was reasonable and the food was of excellent quality. We will visit again if returning to the area.
