Great park, very welcoming staff, great ammenities, however very crowded on our stay, this didn't impact on us greatly. People were a little put out when power went off several times during stay, mainly because everyone had thier air-conditioning running because it was rather warm. Overall we enjoyed stay and the fishing was rather good off the jetty.

Thanks for your review and comments. We have worked really hard to improve the power supply here at the park so we're sorry to hear that it was out for a while during your stay. Glad you got some good fishing in !

Great spot to stay, COVID friendly. Easy to launch boat, great fishing with friendly reception from, all we met. Close proximity to pier, great coastal walks. Everything available from small shops close by. Only down side was seaweed smell at low tide.

Thanks for your review, great to hear you had a nice time. Yep the seaweed can get a bit smelly sometimes but we think the beachside location makes up for it. Hope to see you again soon.

Right on the beach. Definately would help if you had your own boat as the fish were plentiful. Good base to go on day outings and explore. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.Having owned a seafood cafe before , we really appreciated the manner in which the variety of food that was available was well cooked and presented. Good value for money when you just don't feel like cooking. The reception shop was well stocked with pretty much every you would need. Ablution block a little dated but kept extremely clean. Very Covid aware.. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Thanks for your great review. Did you know we have hire boats available? Next time maybe give that a go so you can get out in the fishing action.
Glad we could give you the night off cooking too!

Extremely rude from the second we arrived and continued for the 4 nights we stayed!
Owner hired us out a boat, which when marine police pulled us up we found our son was given incorrect style of life jacket ((8yo)- we are not familiar with ocean/bay boating so didn’t know) AND safety gear was out of date- fire extinguisher had been let off... very disappointing.. general store across the road just as rude and arrogant. Anyone would think they don’t want tourist in their town to spend their money.

Thanks for your feedback and we apologise that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We have an extensive safety management plan in place for hiring of boats, but following your feedback we will review to see if there are any ways in which it can be further improved to aid those who may not be as familiar with boating in the area?

The room was lovely and the view over the bay was nice. There is no internet access unless you buy something from the kiosk each day worth $10.00, but the internet is only available at the kiosk. The seemed to be a large variety of hot food, but our chips tasted stale...possibly old oil. I did not find the caretakers to be friendly...they were there just to do a job.
There was not enough supplies in our cabin for a 5 night stay. There was only 2 tiny tubes of dishwashing liquid which was very inefficient. In the end we used our own shampoo to wash dishes. The same with the bathroom soap....not enough.
Being a land based fisher, I asked whether you could fish from the shore. The shore is mainly mud flats and very shallow. Fishing from the jetty was just heaps of small tommies, and undersized whiting. The other person there was having success squidding. So we hired a tinny. This worked out well but you will get no tips from the caretakers. On putting out the anchor the first time, the rope was badly tangled in a couple of places leaving trailing rope in the water while I tried to untangle it all. When we returned from our trip, we returned the boat to the sandy area we started out from. But, as pointed out by the grumpy caretaker, this was not the right place. He had to get his feet wet. He would not allow us to help him.
Overall, a disappointing experience.

Room tip: 5 nights was too long for the amount of activities in the area.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and your comments. As you would be aware Venus Bay is quite isolated and we have to rely on satellite internet with a very small included data allowance.
Next time please come to reception and let us know you need more dishwashing liquid and soap, we more than happy to provide more if you're staying with us for a while.

Sorry to hear the fishing didn't go so well - hopefully next time the whiting will be biting for you!
