This was the third distillery tour of our day and it was one of the best. The tour was full but there was not problem getting tickets for the 3 of us as it was the last tour of the day. It is a walking tour of the entire grounds which included several buildings and a description of the entire bourbon making operation. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and presented well. She told us about the founding family and how the red wax became a Makers Mark trademark. The wax dipping operation is part of the tour. There is a very good summary of the distillery on Wikpedia if you want to learn about this in advance. The grounds are pristine. The tour concluded with a tasting of 5 of there bourbons. 46 was the best IMHO. There is a well stocked gift shop. The staff is friendly and helpful. Makers Mark is not easy to find. There are signs pointing you in the right direction but the narrow country roads are not well marked. Gas stations are few and far between. Cell phone service is spotty to non-existent so rely on your in car navigation as google maps will not work well. The staff has printed directions to Louisville or Lexington which are helpful. You need to ask them for a copy. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This is a must stop if you are on the bourbon trail. Highly recommended

A great place to learn the history and bourbon distilling process. A very informative tour, beautiful park like campus and the tasting helped my wife choose the bourbon of her taste. Been to 12 distilleries to date and MM is a must visit, if i could only visit one distillery this would be it

I don’t think I can say anything that has not already been said about stopping and taking a tour here, you just have to do it. No bottling was happening due to the holiday and a little disappointed the restaurant was closed but otherwise a fantastic visit. If you drink Makers Mark and you haven’t been here, you have to add this stop into your travel plans. Military discount for admission too. Thanks for a great visit.

We've visited a couple of distilleries before and Makers Mark was another fun experience. The actual making of the alcohol was explained clearly by a very talented tour guide who knew her whisky. The grounds and the historic buildings were beautifully maintained. And the Makers Mark was delicious!
