a little off the beaten path but there were signs as we got close to direct you to the distilleries so you didn't get rerouted down the wrong country road. Beautiful property with distinguishing maker's mark colors. The tour and tasting were both great. Would definitely recommend

This is a beautiful property. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and the landscape well maintained. Our tour guide, Haley, did an excellent job giving us the history and process that goes into making this bourbon. Nice tasting at the end of the tour. Be sure to know how to get there. Your gps won’t work because of limited service in the area and there are NO signs directing you toward the distillery.

Makers Mark is unique from the other distillers. You have to come here to learn why. The setting is lovely. They have been actively using the same buildings and ground to distill since 1805 (though it wasn't called Makers Mark till 1953). Woody was a great and knowledgeable tour guide. The way they make and age the bourbon is unique to them and everything to do with labeling and finishing the bottle is all done by hand. There is a room that you walk through that has a beautiful blown glass ceiling made by a famous glass blower. The gift shop is really cool and how awesome to get to dip your own bottle into the wax to finish it. It's the only bourbon distiller that everyone in my party left with something in a gift bag. Everyone is given a free label. For the tasting you are given 6 samples. From the white dog to the premium select (1001 combos but you can get each one in a specific place). The bourbon is good, it's unique, and how fun to dip any of your merchandise (glasses, hats, magnets, you name it) into the wax. Free for active military. 9.00 for veterans and 12.00 for the rest. Make sure when you're done with the tour you stop by the restaurant for the bourbon slushy. It's 8.00 but it's really good. Full restaurant available. Enjoy!

I expected this would be a deep dive into the technical and production details of Marker’s Mark along the lines of the Woodford Reserve tour. Alas, it was little more than a standard consumer tour that lacked technical details and was more about marketing talking points.

The only bonus was two commemorative Maker’s Mark wax dipped rock glasses. The highlight of the trip was tasting fresh off the still new make aka white dog from a dipper that the tour guide passed around.

This was the third distillery tour of our day and it was one of the best. The tour was full but there was not problem getting tickets for the 3 of us as it was the last tour of the day. It is a walking tour of the entire grounds which included several buildings and a description of the entire bourbon making operation. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and presented well. She told us about the founding family and how the red wax became a Makers Mark trademark. The wax dipping operation is part of the tour. There is a very good summary of the distillery on Wikpedia if you want to learn about this in advance. The grounds are pristine. The tour concluded with a tasting of 5 of there bourbons. 46 was the best IMHO. There is a well stocked gift shop. The staff is friendly and helpful. Makers Mark is not easy to find. There are signs pointing you in the right direction but the narrow country roads are not well marked. Gas stations are few and far between. Cell phone service is spotty to non-existent so rely on your in car navigation as google maps will not work well. The staff has printed directions to Louisville or Lexington which are helpful. You need to ask them for a copy. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This is a must stop if you are on the bourbon trail. Highly recommended
