The Gateway was located in a great section of the city...we could walk to restaurants and the main center of town. The B@B was full of antiques and the pictures on the walls were very interesting. Ken and Sally were the sweetest couple..We enjoyed sitting and chatting with them. Our room *Nancy Room was beautiful , very comfortable queen size bed and the sheets were very soft. We were there for 3 days and we had a different breakfast everyday...coffee was available 24 hrs...There was a sitting area outside which we loved and sat out there with our coffee and read...we enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: all the rooms were on the second floor...so if you can't do stairs this one is not for you

My husband and I stayed at Gateway B&B for two nights as part of our summer vacation, which was a road trip across Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky to visit interesting historical, haunted, unique, mysterious and off-the-beaten path type places. The Inn was welcoming, incredibly decorated and spotlessly clean. We stayed in the Nancy Room, which was small, but it was perfect for a couple and the bathroom jet-tub and rain shower were perfect after camping for several days. Gateway was a real treat for us. My husband was nervous about staying in a B&B that was also someone's home, but on the first night, Ken came and chatted with us on the porch and made us feel so welcome, he was immediately comfortable. Breakfast is served at 9:00 a.m. on a beautiful, bone china place setting and Ken and Sandy are FABULOUS cooks. We had orange-zest French toast one morning and omelets the next and it was delicious. After days on the road, we could not be more happy with the home-cooked breakfasts we had here. Jokingly, when we left, we said we would miss Ken and Sandy and their cooking because we were heading to another campground, but it ended up being true - we really felt like we made friends with Ken and Sandy and missed them (and their cooking) the last few nights of our trip. We highly recommend Gateway B&B if you are going to be in the Cincinnati or Newport, KY area. We hope to make it back there someday.

My wife and I stayed at the Gateway B&B earlier this month. We stayed in the Henry Schriver Room. It was our anniversary, and we live fairly hectic lives, so we wanted to spend a relaxed, quiet, pleasant & romantic evening together. The Gateway was a very good choice. The house is spotless, and our room was nicely appointed, spacious, and away from the other rooms. The bed was very comfortable, and the large bathroom was equipped with a Jacuzzi tub and a walk-in shower. The house is on a city street, but the traffic noise was hardly noticeable. The house is in a good location. We walked about 4 blocks to Newport on the Levee, had a drink at the nearby Hofbrauhaus, and had a very good dinner at York Street Café--all within easy walking distance of the B&B. Ken and Sandy, the owners, were very welcoming, gracious, and "down-home" folks that made you feel right at home. The breakfast was very good, and included fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, eggs (a little on the bland side for me, but Ken was ready with some hot sauce!), orange pancakes (tasty!), goetta (a Cincinnati specialty oatmeal/sausage combination--try it, I bet you'll like it!), and thick-cut, crispy bacon. Sometime during your stay, make sure you check out Ken's charming garden in the side yard. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant experience. We'd definitely return.

Room Tip: The Henry Schriver room is the most spacious and well-appointed. All rooms are on the second floor, but it is away from the others.

We stayed there a couple weeks ago. We had the Nancy room for three nights. Not fancy, but very nice. Well-maintained. Breakfast was just what we needed: variety and great taste. Pricing was spot on.
It's probably a half mile walk to the Newport Aquarium and less for other places of interest. Neighborhood homes are interesting to look at, too.
Enjoyed meeting and talking with Ken and Sandy. Fascinating collection of antique organs and slide projectors. The latter took me back to staying with my grandparents xxx years ago!
We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Have already suggested it to family.

Our first stay at a bed a breakfast. The house is exceptionally clean, the owners were very friendly and welcoming. The house has been accurately restored and decorated but has all modern amenities. Our bathroom was spotless and modern. The owner took great care to use fixtures with an antique style. Breakfast was served promptly at 9 in the dining room. The B&B is in a perfect location to explore Newport and Cincinnati.
