Owner description: Owners Neil and Rachel bought a beautiful 30 acre farm near Versailles, Kentucky in Woodford County in 1997 and began planting grapes, berries, apples, and peaches in 1998. They named the farm Wildside Farm because of the wild sunflowers and coneflowers that grew in abundance. In addition, the name fit because the farm was initially certified organic until they learned that a minimum of amount of pesticides was needed to keep the fruits healthy. They still use minimal pesticides. Each year they planted more grapes until today they have 5 acres of grapes, two acres of fruit trees and 1.5 acres of berries.Welcome to Wildside Winery your winery near Lexington Kentucky, the airport, and Keeneland racetrack! A short list of the interesting wines are our new Bourbon barrel red wine made with Cabernet, peach mead, fresh strawberry, hard cider, and many other delicious wines. On a lark we found this winery. I have to say the people that say (Amanda and Brenda were super cool and very helpful as we selected our wines. I personally recommend the Chardonnay, the Rose and the Red Zin.

We were spending the day touring distilleries. We missed the last tour for Four Roses, but were not quite ready to head home. Found this great little winery. Very friendly and the wines were great. A very inexpensive tasting.

Wild side has a nice selection of over 30 wines. From a nice dry to many different fruit wines. They even have a walnut wine. Make the wiser and give them a try.

We spent a Saturday afternoon here tasting wine with 2 other couples. It was very enjoyable. In general Kentucky wines are not considered great but we found 3 reds we liked and purchased a bottle of each. The Owner/Wine Maker was available and chatted with us for awhile. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We had a really fun time and hope to return.

While touring the Kentucky Bourbon Trail we decided to take a welcomed break from Bourbon for Wine! On a Friday afternoon, it was just us and another couple. We enjoyed speaking with the server while partaking in a tasting. They offer two ways to do a tasting at Wildside. The first, a light flight, will run you $3.00 and you choose any six wines and get a small samples one at a time. The second, a full flight, will run you $6.00 and you still choose any six wines; however, you get larger samples all at the same time on a tray. Although not looking to spend money on wine (as we were in the area for bourbon), we did choose the Fearless to take home with us. Souvenir glass was $4.00 if I remember correctly.
