The old state capital is located in a nice area with many things to do near it. From the front it looks like a castle. The architecture is just beautiful. Across the street is the USS Kidd battleship.

This was a side trip on the way to the Shaw. It was free to go in and had a nice little gift shop. The building is lovely and there are informative, brief descriptions, a simple museum area and a staircase not to be missed. There was a display of high school art work submitted for a scholarship contest. This was the thing that all 3 generations talked about at the end of the trip.

There were many actual photographs and recordings of past govenors of Louisiana. The building is a one of a kind. It has a good layout and the grounds are well kept.

The old state building is located on a beautiful property and I would just visit to see the veranda and the stained glass ceiling.
