Gourmet Cajun food with good service. Historic, old building decorated with wonderful art works. Live music on weekends.

This was the most fun I have had EVER!!! The music was great, the food amazing, good service, etc... The best part was...at 8:30 on a Saturday morning this place looked like a nightclub on Saturday night! Mostly locals, these people love to dance, and party!

We ate a great crayfish pie here on a Friday evening, and the waiter told us we should really come back for their Saturday morning Zydeco breakfast. He was right. The catch, however, is that the breakfast starts at 7:30 am and you really have to be there then if you want to be assured of a seat at the first sitting. By eight the music is going and people are dancing up a storm. They will kick you out at 9:00 or so in order to serve more people--but if you just join the line then you probably won't get to eat breakfast because they only serve (and play music) from 7:30 to 11:30 am. If you add in the band, this was a five star experience.

After winding our way through New Iberia, Abbeville, Lafayette and a few other small Cajun towns, and having a lot of really good food, we ended our trip at Cafe Des Amis and realized it was the best of anything we had done on our trip and reasonably priced! Don't miss it.

The Orielle de Cochon is boudin stuffed, thinly fried dough, shaped liked pigs' ears with powdered sugar and it is the perfect mix of spice, sweet, and savory flavors. All of the food here is very well done and some of the flavor melds are really creative. If you want some fun don't miss the Saturday morning Zydeco Breakfast and come prepared to hear some great music and dance a bit.
