The hostess was very charming and gracious. There are photos of the great musicians, not just those with commercial success. A look into the history of cajun music.

My husband likes Cajun music so wanted to visit this place. Eunice is a very small town and the volunteer manning the place was excited to see my husband & me come in and three more people following us "on a Tuesday afternoon!!!!". I take it that it doesn't attract a lot of visitors. The museum was small with a lot of pix on the walls and a couple of photo albums. There were a half dozen or more OLD accordions in cases that was quite interesting. I didn't know many Cajun music singers so it didn't mean much to me, but if you were into Cajun music it would be interesting. The volunteer said there is a big dance in town on Saturdays that people love, but we missed that. There is no admission charge, but donations are accepted. Also, nicely designed t-shirts and cds are sold, which I assume help to keep the doors open. Check out the original train station next door with lots of Old Artifacts.

We were lucky to experience a young group of excellent performers. It's a folksy setting comprised almost entirely of locals. It's upbeat fun, and entertaining to watch the couples dance. I'd also recommend spending time at the Acadian Cultural Center next door. We saw an interesting film on the history of the population and learned a lot about the Cajun culture in general. Note that the performance is only on Saturday nights.

If you already have some knowledge of Cajun music, this would probably be a great spot to visit and learn more. However, if you don't know anything about Cajun music, this is a hard place to start out because they don't have much in the way of signage that explain what it is you're looking at.

However, it's right next door to the Depot museum, the staff is friendly, and the admission's free, so there's no reason not to poke your head in and check it out.

It is very interesting reading about all the great musicians from Louisiana. All the pictures are framed and hanged with a description of the musician and his talent.
