“New Lobby but that is where New Stops”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

This hotel recently completed the renovation of its lobby to the new "Bistro" look found in most all Marriott Courtyards (not a fan by the way). That is where all the newness ends. I booked a room for 5 nights (4/26 - 5/1) and after 2 nights of looking at old mustusdard colored walls and shabby couch, desk chair that looked like it was used in a "B" porn movie it was time to go.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast package was something new and not seen in any of the other bistro outfitted Courtyards. I suspect they were using it to keep guests.
Checked out and moved down to the brand new Marriott Springhill Suites a little more $$ per night but still had free breakfast and no mustard colored walls or stained chairs.

I stay in many Courtyard's throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana while traveling on business. I am always pleased with my stays, however, this one was particularly pleasant. I arrived at 10:00 pm after driving and visiting accounts for 14 hours. The gentleman at the front desk was especially nice and very hospitable. My room was great, the bed incredibly comfortable and the entire facility clean and impressive !!

I stayed here for 5 days while visiting town for Mardi Gras. I appreciated the free parking, nearby airport location and great staff.

I enjoyed the hot tub, but it was only working 1 night of my 5 nights, so that was a bit of a bummer.

The breakfast food was OK, but you get coupons and you get 2 pick from 1 of several items and that is it. No buffet. So if you don't like what you pick you get to purchase something somewhere else.

I appreciated the microwave/fridge. Mine was well stocked by me during my stay. A can opener or bottle opener would have been great!

The TV was nice, but in my king room the set up was awful for watching TV because the bed was right next to the TV and you would have to lay sideways to see it. There was a couch but mine was full of luggage etc.

The bathrooms are what need the most updating/cleaning. My toilet looked like there was something in it the whole time I was there and the shower plug kept falling down and filling up my tub. The vanity is out of the bathroom which is nice for 2 people.

I did not have a patio, but felt that my room had a lot of light. The heat and a/c was great. Room on the 3rd floor facing the airport was quiet.

The computers in the lobby I thought would be useful since I don't have a laptop, but they were incredibly slow.

Lastly, the staff was great. Some better than others. A few were able to offer suggestions for nearby restaurants and stores etc. The others, although friendly, were not even familiar with a restaurant we ate at a block away. But I never had an issue getting friendly service.

Room Tip: I appreciated the guest laundry facilities!

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

I spent five nights at the Courtyard in Lafayette in late January as part of a Road Scholar program. My room was comfortable and was surprisingly quiet -- surprising because it was just across the hall from the elevator, a location that I thought might be noisy. The food at breakfast was ok; the food at the one dinner provided by the hotel for our group was not so great. The lobby was pleasant and comfortable; the small bar was convenient though overpriced (typical of most hotel bars). One negative of the room arrangement was that the a/c blew directly on you when you were sitting at the desk. I found that I had to turn a/c off when working on my computer at the desk. Because I was there in fairly cool weather, it was not a big problem. It would be a big problem in summer. The best thing about this Courtyard was the staff. The wifi connection went down during my stay -- something that would be the kiss of death for a review by me in most cases since a good net connection is my #1 priority in a hotel/motel. But at least the staff took the problem seriously and did their best to solve it. Nothing makes me more furious than a ho-hum shrug when reporting to hotel staff that the net connection is down. Though the net downage put me way behind in my online tasks, at least the staff seemed to care. If I thought that the net went down very often, I would never even think about staying at the Courtyard again. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that this was a rare event. All of the hotel staff seemed friendly and helpful and caring.

I travel at least 3 to 4 nights a week for business. I usually stay next door at the Hampton. This time, thought I would try Marriott.

I have a lot of work to send in each night and the internet was down. I was not informed of this at checkin.

I also had a huge presentation the next morning and needed the internet to create some reports. No dice.

When I called the front desk, the gentleman suggested Starbucks! After he told me it wasn't working. Really! I had just driven 4 hours after working 8 hours and chose a hotel that caters to business travelers.

The room was also very noisy. I do travel a lot and my one request is a rop floor away from elevator. Didn't happen.

I am more than disappointed in this hotel and the way the internet sitution was handled. Poor customer service. I xannot wait to get back to the Hampton next door.

...and that's about it. Unfortunately you can't sleep in the lobby. I wish they would have updated the rooms and then my stay would have been more comfortable. The bathrooms are grimy. I'm glad I only stayed one night. You might as well sleep at the Hampton Inn across the way. Their reviews are better and they have breakfast.

Paid $50/night. Desk rate was 105.

The exercise equipment had some problems, but not a huge deal. The room was clean. The desk staff were attentive, but I had no real reason to interact with them. My room was comfortable and up to date. Shower head was a little vigorous, but it was hardly worth complaining.
