Review of Last Frontier Heliskiing

The whole trip was magic. A week optima forma. A real father and son week. Yes a private party, two guides, one helicopter and one pilot. This has been the most physically intense but mentally the most relaxing holiday ever. Everyday we left early and arrived back most of the times later than the other guests. We skied where we wanted and when we wanted to ski, we had a coffee, lunch and tea break whenever and wherever we wanted mostly on top of the mountain and we felt on top of the mountain. The weather was great with perfect snow. Our MG (master guide as we nicknamed Lucas Holtzman) and Jos Lang (an honour to be skiing with her as she is the first female mountain guide ever) found the best runs, both challenging and exiting. The very first day one of the owners, manager Mike Watling asked if he could tag along. Well you never now what to expect from these kind of guys, but I assure you he can come along everyday! All the ingredients for the best holiday ever were being provided. Extra energy drinks no problem, snowboarding today done, etc. The lodges, the food (breakfast and diner) were excellent, the other guests, students, politicians, businessmen, professors were all fun but most importantly I haven’t heard one single word of discontent between the staff members. Fantastic week

I've been there many times and hope to keep going. Fantastic help skiing, friendly guides and staff, good food, nice rooms. Everything is excellent. When you get blue skies you are really in heaven.
My special thanks to all the Bell 2 team, they are always great.

Last Frontier Heli Skiing

OK all of you wannabe Heli Skiers. We've skied Last Frontier since 2001. Our most recent trip was the week of February 20th. As with the rest of the American West it was a lean year for snow. But I will tell you that this location still had the hidden pockets of great snow and that is attributed to the special people at Last Frontier. This was trip number eleven. So yes, we have skied other Heli operations including Alaska. Last Frontier tops all. I can count on one hand in all of our years there the total down days for weather. The best for hospitality, food, lodging,organization, guides, terrain, snowpack,and most important, Safety, Safety!!! Eleven trips in fifteen years says it all.

Great week of snowboarding!

I had a great time. Last Frontier was awesome. Even with the low snow pack early this winter I couldn't have been happier. I've been to other heli operations in prior years. I found, for snowboarding, Last Frontier's program with their small helicopters was a good fit. There was no long traverse/run outs like on past trips to other outfits. The food was great. Lodging was comfortable. The staff was awesome.

Will I go back? Definitely! I actually bought a credit for a future year in advance.

Thank you for your review. The A-star is the real deal when it comes to flying small groups of skiers up and down the mountains. You will have to come back now that we are switching to groups of 4!

Heliski

Organisation:

- good but not enough efficient concerning the security. No briefing from the guide
- good for medium skier level. If you are a good or really good skier you ll ski on too easy ride and lost your time
-wifi in the hotel really slow speed

- the place is great for skiing a lot of possibilities. Great mountains ...

So come with a group of the same ski level.if not you ll be frustrated.

Safety has always been and will always be our number one priority. As we are now debriefing the season, we will of course follow up with our Ops team regarding your concerns. We’re very proud of the consistency in our guiding department and know the guides strive to provide our guests with a great Heli-Skiing/Boarding experience within the possibilities of what the snow and weather conditions allow them to do. Our guides are also encouraged to share as much information as possible with guests.

While we make every effort to match our guests’ abilities for grouping so everyone can enjoy a cohesive level and pace of skiing, it of course highly depends on the skiers booked during YOUR week.

As you have identified already, coming with a group of 5 would be an option to eliminate grouping concerns. We also offer Private Tours that would give you the ultimate flexibility in skiing (ski as much or as little as you wish every day, as fast or as slow as you desire). Another program geared towards expert skiers is our Rippin at Ripley Tour.

Easily one of the best heli ski operations in the world

Last Frontier Heli is easily one of the best heli ski operations in the world. They have some of the best terrain, certainly the best snow, super experienced guides, and some of the nicest people (employees and guest) you could ever hope to meet. The accommodations are equally amazing. Log cabins with wood burning stoves for added ambiance. I also have to mention that I got one of the best massages there. I guess you could say that I'm one extremely satisfied repeat customer. I can't wait to go back this coming January!
