This place came highly recommended by Canadian ski guides and friends and did not disappoint! It is an incredible small heli experience in Northern Canada.
We were a group of 12 strong/expert skiers who do 1 heli trip per year in different parts of world.
The staff, terrain, location and food are fantastic. We were primarily high alpine skiing as weather was warmer and big trees lower, but we had terrific terrain and powder. The guides really adjust experience to your ability, so we were allowed to do entire runs without stopping and logged 35k of vertical on our 3-4 great weather days. Guides focus strongly on safety which is critical and prevented us from accessing some of the steepest pitches. Given these conditions it was not as steep as Thompson Pass/ Valdez but plenty challenging and fun.
Marginal visibility/poor weather terrain is limited but have heard that they are working to expand options.
We did have a couple of down weather days, so they have bikes for a fun ride to Hyder, ping pong, and work to get you back out as soon as they can. Important for guests to be patient and acknowledge weather can change rapidly, so a few of us that left 1/2 day early missed a great afternoon of powder and probably the best party with the staff on the trip. Staff/chefs/guides socialize and dine with guests make it more of a fun experience.
Town and hotel are funky/rustic but fun and comfortable which adds to the ambiance of the trip. Outdoor hot tubs and massages are best part of apres skiing. Breakfast, dinner, lunch, and post skiing appetizers are excellent.
I probably appreciated most the flexibility of the staff and guides. On one day the first couple of runs were marginal, but 2 of us wanted to continue to ski, and we were treated with a private chopper, 2 guides, and a ridiculous afternoon of high alpine skiing. That day will go down as on of the best days in my forty years of skiing!
The lower tree terrain look amazing so will need to return to try these. Definitely will return.
