Gracious service in a tranquil environment, the perfect place for our exploration of the area. Loved too catching the morning sun rising over the Kennebec River. It is an easy stroll to the restaurants in downtown Bath.

I've really struggled with reviewing the Prior House because my visit was sandwiched between visits to two of the best B&Bs I've visited any time, anywhere. Pryor House is very good it just lacks the final little touches that make you go "Oh, wow!" Each of the three second floor rooms is unique and comfortable if you want to spend time reading or watching TV in your room. The beds are comfortable and equipped with both blankets and duvets to handle the variations in weather in Southern Maine in autumn. The lounge on the first floor has a gas fireplace and very comfortable seating for either reading or conversation. Breakfast includes a cooked breakfast that changes from day to day as well as a selection of cold items. Off street parking is available and you'd want a car to explore the areas parks and beaches, but there are restaurants within a mile of the inn if you'd prefer to walk and not have to worry about drinking. Definitely a great choice in the area of Bath, Maine.

Repeat stay in this wonderful B+B in Bath. Gwenda's breakfasts are delicious and she has been gracious enough to post them on their website.
I especially appreciate that she called me with a cancellation allowing us to book at the almost last minute!

Room Tip: Captain's room is the largest, king sized bed. Tall chimney room is the quietest.

We enjoyed a New England road trip in the early Fall and visited a number of Maine towns as well as several B&Bs. We were delighted with our stay at Pryor House where Gwenda welcomed us warmly and showed us some typical friendly and charming hospitality. She and her husband, together with their family, enjoy what to us is a quiet and almost idyllic life compared with the hustle and bustle of England; it was very good indeed to share that experience for a short while. Breakfast was bespoke and excellent. Our perhaps unfair drop of one rating was because we would have preferred the Captain's Room over the Elizabeth Room. This was our fault over the booking and so I wouldn't hold it against the Pryor and hence perhaps the slight unfairness. However, given the chance again, we would definitely take the Captain's! Overall, a very pleasant experience and we would return - always the litmus test.

Room Tip: Captain's Room on the Second Floor

Lovely quiet home with great innkeeper, clean rooms, private bathrooms and amazing breakfast in the morning! Bath is a charming town with great shopping area and waterfront within walking distance from the home. Highly recommend a stay at this B&B as they have thought of everything to make your stay perfect!
