This place is a wonderful group of cottages and rooms set on a beautifully landscaped acreage. There is direct beach access and is very dog friendly! I wanted to escape for a few days just with the dogs to let them swim and for me to eat lobster and relax. This was perfect!
The cottage I stayed in was extremely clean and absolutely adorable, very “French country meets seashore cottage”
Staff was friendly and it’s an excellent value as well!

One of the cutest, cleanest cottages I have ever rented! Excellent all around! Highly recommend. Owners are very nice and accommodating with any request you have within reason. Very quiet and relaxing. Bay view not exactly oceanview

Colonial Gables is a cute cottage community nestled in the outskirts of Belfast. Our cottage had a beautiful, clear view to the ocean. Just steps from the beach, it was very easy access. The beach area has a bit of sand, but is mostly rocky as the tide goes out. The cottages are pet friendly and there are dogs everywhere on the beach! There is giant chess, ping pong, shuffle board, and horseshoes on the premises. Unfortunately, no cornhole. Our cottage had a small, full kitchen, a nice big open sitting area, a small bathroom and a nice bedroom. The couch also pulled out. There was only one small mirror in the bathroom, so pack extra if you need more. There is wifi, but very spotty depending on what cottage you're staying in. However, it does reach to the beach! Would definitely stay here again!

Room tip: Number 37 was the best!

Shortly after the property cleaning crew finished turning over the cabin, we checked in and did a thorough Covid cleaning and sanitizing of the cabin before we brought our stuff in.

We woke in the morning to find mouse droppings on the floor and kitchen area countertops. To managements credit, they refunded us the night and were gracious in canceling the balance of our reservation. But that is as far as I am willing to go with good will. I am sure the cleaning crew knows of the issue and if they did not inform management, that is on them. If they did inform management, this falls on the shoulders of management. My wife and I have been going to Colonial Gables for over 25 years, she has been going even longer, since she was a child. Every year, it is something; septic system backing up, carpenter ants, wasps, chipmunks coming up through holes in the shower floor, water heater issues, refrigerators not working, broken screens in doors and windows, leaking roofs that required pots, pans and bowls to catch the drops and on and on.

Management has been making improvements over the years but it seems that they may be losing ground to the ravages of time and wear.

We have been more than patient, is it time to find another place?

We recently stayed here for a night (wish it was longer) and we stayed in a renovated cabin. It was so nice! Bed was comfortable and we had a lovely deck with a high top table and chairs and also lounge chairs. The front desk staff was super nice and helpful. There is no doubt we will be back to this little gem of a place right on the water ❤
