Dear J566OCbrettc,
It is sad to see such an inaccurate review that couldn't be more far from the truth.
As with any hotel that gets a complaint from a guest that states they "saw" a "bedbug" there are certain procedures that need to be followed. The first step is once the hotel is notified the room is immediately taken offline so it can't be rented until a local pest company comes in to fully inspect the room and treated, if evidence is found.
Tonya, who has been here for many years and has received many positive reviews for her kindness and compassion who never once showed any lack of concern and I can assure you that she NEVER acted that this was a normal occurrence as in her tenure here at the hotel this was the first time this type of complaint was brought to her attention and in the 35 years of the hotel being open this is only the second time receiving a complaint of this nature.
Tonya did exactly what she should have, she apologized to the guest, took the room offline and stated to the guest that they would be followed up with once they manager came in the next business day, it is correct that there was no offer of a refund at the time by Tonya as she doesn't have the authorization to do so. The next day, the guest did reach back out to myself the GM prior to me making the call to them where we discussed the situation at hand. I apologized several times for what they stated they experienced, It was communicated during the call that a full refund would be given to the guest prior to even the pest company coming in to inspect the room and it was communicated to the guest the proactive steps were taken and the call ended cordially thus a surprise to see such a review.
Let me finish by also mentioning just incase some weren't aware but the condition or type of hotel doesn't determine if a hotel can get bedbugs. Bedbugs are known as the perfect hitchhiker where in fact they are brought into hotels from traveling guests. No hotels are exempt from these type of situations, they are experienced by 1 star motels all the way up to 5 star resorts.
