Dear Dan and Matt,
The Windward House is truly a beautiful B&B, with so much character and charm it just gives you a warm and cozy feeling. It is evident how hard your working to make this dream come true.
Our best wishes for happiness and prosperity beyond your wildest dreams.
Pete & Tina

To those traveling to the beautiful Camden Maine area..look no further.. this is the place to stay. Recent owners, Dan and Matt are most gracious and immediately make you feel right at home.

The tour of the house and grounds were beautiful. Their future plans for an on-site gift shop and spa will result in total perfection.

With many lovely and affordable rooms to choose from we decided on the Quarterdeck suite. It was spacious with a private deck entrance and magnificent mountain views..it was beautiful.

Start your day off with a delicious made to order breakfast. The menu selections will fill the heartiest of appetites. May I suggest Matt’s blueberry pancakes..OMGoodness!!

What can be said about the location? It’s perfect!!
Right across from Main Street where you’ll find the most fabulous restaurants and shops.
What else can we say..only that once you stay at the Windward House you’ll surely stay again.

My husband and I stayed here for his birthday weekend and had a fantastic time. Dan and Matt supposedly just took over 6 weeks ago as innkeepers and you’d think they were doing it for years. Place was beautiful, clean and well kept. Breakfast was delicious! Can’t wait to get back here!

My husband & I chose to stay at Windward House based on a myriad of long-time great reviews. Needless to say, we were a little hesitant upon checking in when we discovered that it was under new management. It soon became evident that our concerns were unfounded when we met new owners Matt and Dan. Going out of their way to be sure our stay was pleasant, they provided us with several area recommendations for restaurants and activities. Our downstairs room in the Carriage House was extremely clean, comfortable, spacious, and quiet. We very much enjoyed morning breakfasts where we could order à la carte from a menu and Matt's blueberry pancakes were our favorite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay here again and wish Matt and Dan great success in their new endeavor!

Room Tip: The two Carriage House rooms have private entrances for those who wish to be separate from the main house.

I have stayed in Camden many times, but this was first visit to the Camden Windward House. Location is superb for walking into town, Dan and Matt (new owners) seem to be coming up to speed quickly on providing excellent accommodations and an excellent breakfast selection. They are very eager to take suggestions on minor improvements, and I expect things to only get better as they start making this established B&B their own. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Camden Windward House for two nights in mid-October on our way to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We pulled up the B&B moments after driving through the small town of Camden. It is very noticeable and on the main road. The house is stately and historic looking. We were greeted by one of the owners, Dan, who checked us in and provided a thorough overview of the home and things to do in Camden. Dan the showed us to our room, the Chart Room.

The Bed
Definitely one of the larger rooms at this establishment, the Chart Room has both a sitting room and bedroom. The sitting room had a nice built-in bookshelf with television. On the opposite side was a small couch and table, next to an old-fashioned-looking gas-powered iron stove for heating. Given the time of year we visited, we definitely used this at night. Off of the sitting room is also a very nice bathroom with a jacuzzi tub/shower, toilet and sink. The bedroom had a large king bed and closet, and opened up to a private outdoor seating area facing the rear of the house. The entire suite, located just off of the Inn’s main living room, had beautiful hardwood floors and was on the first floor, making it easy to get in and out with our bags.

The Breakfast
Each morning guests gather in the dining room from 8-10 for breakfast. Coffee was ready and hot, and we were immediately greeted again by the owners who offered us fresh cut fruit and juice. The owners then took our order from a small menu. The first day we had blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs, and the second day a bountiful portion of French toast and another egg. The food was delicious and the eggs perhaps the most colorful and fresh I have ever eaten. Various breakfast meats (or even vegetarian “sausage”) were also available. Eating in the dining room was an extremely pleasant experience with guests sharing stories and local tips, as well as conversing with the owners. Overall a great start to both days.

Camden
One of the most beautiful places we have seen in the country, Camden is a small town full of shops, restaurants, neighborhoods, nature, and waterfront. Most of these are a very short walk from this B&B. With one full day, we opted mostly for nature, visiting Camden Hills State Park a few minutes up the main road. The small entrance fee is worth it. We drove to the top of Mt. Battie for a spectacular view of Camden and the surrounding area, as well as a vigorous hike through the adjacent forest. We also drove down to Rockport to see the Breakwater Lighthouse which was worth a stop.

The Owners
With such a smooth and comfortable operation, you would think that the innkeepers were experienced pros. In fact, the new owners Dan and Matt, took over this establishment only five weeks prior to our stay. Their quality of management after such a short time was impressive and notable. Career switchers and new to this profession, they bring a compelling personal story and palpable energy to this excellent B&B. With the winter to make enhancements to the home and plan for the coming busy season next year, I imagine that the Camden Windward House will emerge as one of the up and coming hotspots of this idyllic Maine getaway.
