“Peaceful location, wonderful view, mesmerizing currents, very clean.”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Our stay at White Rocks cottage was lovely. The place is located in a quiet part of coastal Maine and early mornings on the dock were serene. The cottage itself is well maintained, beautifully decorated and very clean. The screen porch and deck were both great places to sit and watch the amazing currents as the tide came in and went out. The kitchen is well appointed and we had nice meals in the dining room. Comfy bed and nice breezes.

“Memorable Week at White Rocks”
Reviewed August 11, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My wife, two-year-old son and I had a thoroughly enjoyable week at the cottage. It is a beautiful, relaxing environment and we loved the setting on the water and the magnificent sunsets. We simply can't envision anyone not relishing being there.

The cottage is small but very comfortable. We wanted our son to have his sleeping bed at his young age so we simply brought our folding, transportable crib and placed it on the floor in the adjourning bedroom in between the two twin beds. He slept soundly and liked the chance to go up and down the stairs inside on his own. Because the cottage has a shower only, Mark and his wife were good enough to let us use a plastic tub they had so we could give him a bath outside on the deck and in the shower stall.

The steps are narrow and steep but someone who couldn't maneuver them could stay in the couch pull out bed downstairs in the living room.

We arrived late the first night from a family activity in Massachusetts and found some mosquitoes at that hour. But as the temperature cooled during the week with a breeze blowing we scarcely noticed them further.

We appreciated the nearby activities and sites and tried to take full advantage, including going on a Maine Eastern Railroad excursion one day to Rockland, going to Reid State Park (with a free pass for entry), eating at Five Islands Seafood Co., getting more lobsters at the Brunswick farmers market, and driving over to Bailey Island one evening to search for crabs and enjoy the sunset on Casco Bay.

We had breakfast on the dock, flew a kite there, fished, and swam in the pleasantly cool Kennebec River. We took many photos to remind us, and show our son later, of a very memorable week at White Rocks. If my parents-in-law from the Philippines visit us for the first time ever, the cottage is the kind of place we would love to show them of Maine and America in the summer near the ocean.

Liked best: The setting on and continual views of the water.
Liked least: Having to park a slight distance from the cottage with our son though we could pull up to the yard for packing and unpacking.

The cottage is fantastic! The views are beautiful and the seal kept us entertained. The cottage was cozy and comfortable. I must say I love the old oil lamps that were converted to electric. If your looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay I would highly recommend White Rocks Cottage!

Kym,

Thank you for writing a review of your stay at White Rocks Cottage. I am pleased that you liked the electric converted antique oil lamps in White Rocks. We think that the lamps enhance the unique blend of the traditional and the modern in the cottage. And the seal has been visiting us at our cottage down the shore since you left. I imagine he is wondering where you went. We hope you can come back some day. Thanks for staying with us.

A somewhat rustic, quaint, prototypical New England style cottage located on the beautiful Georgetown coastal region. We found a book on the area that mentioned that this cottage was originally built around 1908 and today still maintains its original charming character with modest and well done upgrades. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Mark and we hope to visit again in the future!

Greg and family.

Greg,

I am glad your parents, your daughter and you enjoyed your stay at White Rocks Cottage. It sounds like your time at the cottage was a relaxing finish to your dad's reunion weekend at Yale. I do hope you can stay with us again in the future. Best regards.

The view is spectacular all day long from seals, bald eagles, great blue heron and mink scampering along the rivers shoreline.
The cottage is clean and comfortable, the screened in porch is hard to leave. One of the states best beaches is just a few miles away at Reid State Park.

This mid coast location allows us to go Antiquing, shopping and visiting world renowned Museums.

We can't wait to return.

“White Rocks Cottage Is Idyllic.”

This past August, we enjoyed yet another stay at White Rocks, as we have for the past seven years. This has become our place to go for our anniversary week. Mark and Gerry are always friendly and have been very kind to us while we're there. We also once had an old friend of ours stay for a couple of days, and the extra bedroom worked out well for her.

We think the cottage is ideal for a mature couple, a family with older children, or perhaps a couple on their honeymoon. It's comfortable and very peaceful, which we especially enjoy. We love the screened-in porch, where you can enjoy sunsets, watch boats of various kinds go by, and sometimes have seals watching YOU! It's nice to be able to see the rising and falling water level as the tide moves in and out on the Kennebec River.

The cottage provides all necessary amenities. Over the years, the cottage has been kept in good repair, and there have been improvements, too, like the new hardwood bathroom floor and the boat dock. We don't own a boat, but the dock is close and easily accessible for those who do, by means of a floating set of steps with railings. There is a free pass to Reid Park, and that can be a nice way to enjoy a day at the beach in good weather.

There are various nearby restaurants, including "Blue", The Osprey, and Five Islands. In Bath, we suggest that visitors try Mae's, the Kennebec Tavern, and Schutty's, on State Road, which is just a trailer on the side of the road but the seafood there is wonderful.

Again, we love White Rocks for its serenity, its cared-for environment, and as a "base of operations" for a lovely stay near the coast of Maine.

“White Rocks, a fantastic place to vacation!”

There's not a thing that I can find wrong with a stay at White Rocks. It is so peaceful and private. The cottage is just so beautiful and well maintained. It's the perfect place to relax and relearn how to do nothing but enjoy life. Or, if you like to stay busy, there are so many things to do like hiking, fishing, biking, shopping and site seeing. My husband and I have been repeat customers for many years. We love to stroll along the beaches close to the cottage and the Lyons always provide a free pass to the Parks; what a bonus! The kitchen and bathroom have been updated and the cottage is completely furnished with every amenity you'd ever need, and nicer dishes, glasses, cooking pots, towels, etc., than I have at home! We have never had any issues with anything and the cottage water is great; if fact, you will love the way your hair and skin will feel after you enjoy a relaxing hot shower. We have in fact recommended White Rocks cottage to friends and family, who have all given their stay there excellent reports.
