The Tides Beach Club was just what we were looking for . It's a quaint Inn on the beach just a few minutes from Kennebunk Maine. Far enough away from town to really be relaxing, but close enough to go shopping or sailing whenever you want .
It's an updated, clean, 25 room Inn that is across the street from the ocean. Great views from several of the rooms, the lobby and the front porch . The staff was friendly and very accommodating .Beds were very comfortable . They have a nice restaurant, great food ,a bar and offer a full breakfast included with the room. As with any overnight stay along the southern coast of Maine , the rooms can be pricy , but here you truly get what you pay for . We loved it and plan to go back next year!

This past weekend was my second stay at TBC and it was truly a pleasure. The decor, the staff, the amenities (this resort is paired with Hidden Pond), the food/drinks and the location are all PERFECT. Staying here was truly a perfect weekend getaway. I will note that I think that the room size may be better of couples than for a family so next year we plan to return with our daughter and get a cabin at Hidden Pond but will definitely plan to spend a good portion of your time hanging out at TBC and on the wonderful Goose Rocks Beach.

Room tip: We've stayed in three different rooms and I feel like the ocean view are worth the extra money.

My wife and I spent three days and two nights at The Tides. We overall enjoyed our stay. Below is a review of various aspects of our stay.

Service:

The service at this hotel is excellent. The front desk was very welcoming and the beach staff was excellent.

Food:

We had breakfast and lunch at the hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a menu of hot dishes as well as a modest buffet. Their coffee was excellent! We had lunch on the beach and while the menu was limited they allowed us to order items not listed which was much appreciated. The food was also delivered very quickly. We did not eat dinner at the hotel

Beach:

By far the best reason to stay at the Tides is its direct beach access. One of the nicest beaches in all of New England.

Rooms:

Be very very careful which room you book. We had to stay in two different rooms due to availability when we booked, both on the second floor. Room 201, the first room we stayed was nicely renovated but tiny! It was located next to several of the HVAC units and was very noisy as a result. We then switched to room 210, a partial ocean view. This room was much larger and we really enjoyed it. Had we started in this room and were told to switch to 201 we would have either refused or left the hotel.

The Hotel:

Overall it is very charming with a beautiful front porch and sun room to enjoy. However that charm, which comes from the hotel being old but renovated comes with cost; it is extremely noisy. Every door slams when closed and noise from below reverberated throughout. This was especially an issue for the second floor as you could hear music until at least mid-night from below as well as the chatter of the popular restaurant below. For a couple like us that was looking for two nights of sleep (our first trip alone since having our 12 month old) this was a major issue that would prevent us from coming again. If you are a deep sleeper or it's not a priority for you, then I would highly recommend the tides. If your like us, I would recommend at the very least making sure to get a room above the third floor.

Dear Jerry S,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your experience! In the two nights you stayed with us, I am glad that you were able to take so much in and for the most part, really enjoy yourself! Right off the bat, I want to sincerely apologize that 201 did not provide the tranquility that you and your wife absolutely deserved after such an exciting (yet exhausting) year! You are right that each room has its own personality and offers something a bit different. Depending on location, some can be noisier and or smaller than others as you experienced. Thank you for recognizing the limitations of our unique and building, as it was built in 1899, and even during renovation, we tried to keep as much of the original infrastructure as possible. However, I do agree that some exploration of ways to reduce the noise heard from doors, or the HVAC unit and /or restaurant patrons would add great value.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the food and beverage component of the Tides Beach Club and that you were able to take advantage of our expansive breakfast options, and the convenience of our beach lunch! You will have to come back and try our happy hour and dinner offerings ! I am also very proud to hear that the service provided by our staff was excellent in your eyes! That is a warm compliment that I will be sure to share with my teams!

Again, I do want to apologize that the first leg of your stay left you wanting a bit more from your accommodations, but I am glad that you found 210 to be more comfortable both in room size and noise level. When you are ready to visit us again, please be sure to call me here at the hotel. I would like to assist you personally in making your next reservation in a room that meets the mark in every way!

All my best for you and your family!

Just finished a 3 night stay at The Tides Beach Club. I can't say enough about this small charming hotel. It is in the perfect location. Surrounded by beautiful beach homes. There are no other commerical properties near it, so you really feel like you are staying at someones home. Across the street is a wonderful beach. The hotel provides chairs , umbrellas and towels at the beach. The beach was not crowded. It is long enough to take walks on.
The rooms are small but nicely furnished. Breakfast is included which was great. No complaints. There is a lovely front porch, to sit and have breakfast or a cocktail.
The restaurant was good, we had lunch there everyday. Service was fast. The food was good and the wait staff could not have been nicer.
This is a wonderful.place to stay.

Dear kepmom,

On behalf of everyone here at the Tides Beach Club, I want to sincerely thank you for your wonderful review of your stay with us last week. I too find that Goose Rocks Beach is one of the most beautiful in the area, and as you mention, we are off the beaten path of bustling Kennebunkport which adds another level of comfort and serenity. It sounds as though you got to enjoy many amenities that we offer here during the three nights you spent with us! We are lucky to be able to offer guests the ease of in house dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner either in the dining room, social lobby and/ or the outdoor porch, and all the beach necessities out on the sand! We feel that this enables us to provide our guests something truly special and unique. I am thrilled to hear that this was true of your experience!

Thank you once again for taking the time to post this glowing review, and we do hope to welcome you back soon!

While the rooms are small, this place is a first class experience in terms of service, the restaurant, the beach access and location. The house is so nice that it expands your living space. We absolutely plan on coming back and i recommend the lobster raviolo and the swordfish wrap.
