“Christmas Delight”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

My husband and I decided that because we love the Captain Jefferd's Inn so much, we would try a trip during the Christmas season. Once again, the Bed and Breakfast was superlative. And we have found on the last few trips that many of our fellow vacationers are repeat customers just like us. That says it all.

me and my husband stayed here for our anniversary, and it was truly an amazing experience. They welcomed us with a anniversary champagne- a wonderful surprise :)

The house was very cozy and beautiful and the breakfast was excellent too. We will definitely go back for our next anniversary.

p.s. The Florida room is amazing- you can see that starts in the sky from the bed!

We stayed at the Captain Jefferds Inn in Kennebunkport for our anniversary. We were in the Wyeth room, which has a king sized bed, fireplace and remodeled bathroom. The room was very nicely appointed. The fireplace was fantastic -- we lit a fire each night and it was so nice to sit in the comfortable chairs in the room, drink wine and read. I can't rave enough about the sheets that they had on the bed -- they were so comfortable that we actually bought a set when we got home! The newly remodeled bathroom was quite nice -- great water pressure in the multi-head shower. The bedroom windows also had wooden shutters, which kept out the light in the morning -- much appreciated.

The breakfasts are amazing and the staff is very accommodating of food allergies. There are two seatings for breakfast. We spent each morning chatting with the other guests, which was fun. There is a pantry that is accessible 24/7 with sodas, waters, etc. The staff also puts out mulled cider, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies in the afternoons. There is a fire lit in the fireplace in the living room all of the time and a basket of menus for all of the local restaurants. It's the little details that made our stay so enjoyable.

The location is great -- it's about a 10 minute walk into town. There was plenty of parking at the inn, even when they were fully booked.

The only drawback is the lack of (noise) privacy. The inn is a beautiful historic building, but every night, we could hear other people's conversations, drawers opening and closing, footsteps from the rooms above and flushing of toilets in other rooms. It's a bit unnerving to realize that you have so little privacy. Not sure how (or if) that can be fixed, but it was the only drawback of the whole weekend.

Room Tip: Our room, the Wyeth room, had a wonderful fireplace. I would highly recommend it if you are staying...

Kennebunkport ME is a wonderful place to visit, made all the better by a stay at the Capt. Jefferd's. Sarah and Eric, you leave nothing to chance......every detail is attended to with what seems like effortless efficiency. The rooms are warm and welcoming, the food made fresh and delicious. The short walk into town made coming back to the warmth on the Inn all that more inviting. Thank you for a memorable weekend. We will be revisiting for sure!

Room Tip: The soaking tub and walk-in shower are spectacular in the Katahdin room!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend/partial week at the Captain Jefferds Inn. I have stayed in Kennebunkport, ME before and was extremely impressed at the level of service we received at the Inn. For the first time, we traveled with our dog. They made this as pain free as possible. Of course there are rules which are to be expected (as the rooms look untouched by canine teeth), but they go out of their way to make man's best friend as welcome as possible! He LOVED the cookie that awaited him at arrival! From the staff, to the owners...they are all pet lovers! This has opened my eyes to a new way of traveling!

Our stay was in the Baxter room...which is simply amazing. It has a rustic/cabin feel (which is different from the overall feel of the house). The fireplace, furnishing, whirlpool tub....all magnificent. As for the breakfast......wow! I am ready to drive 5 hours back for the eggs florentine alone! Eric did an outstandning job each day.

Pros:
- Location: large grounds for dogs to run (on leash), steps from town
- Food: amazing...and I originally went just for lobster
- Room: sheets that were amazing and just a great place to relax
- House: wonderfully maintained and decorated for Xmas
- Staff: Bradon/Steve and the rest were outstanding. Helped with dinner choices, where to travel to w the dog, and Brandon even got a chance to play with the pup (who loved him).

Cons:
- Cannot think of any at the time except that I can't visit more often.

If you are traveling and looking for a high-end B&B that accepts and loves pets, give them a try. It is a great town to visit in the summer and winter (expecially if you like peace and quiet in the winter).

Room Tip: The outside rooms allow pets. The Baxter has a fenced in pourch...great for outdoor eating.relaxing...
