“Can't wait to go back!”

I have stayed at the Green Heron Inn two times and both times were amazing. The first time I went was with my mom and the second time was with my boyfriend. I love everything about the inn. The way it is decorated makes you feel at home right away. Every room is clean and well kept. The books on the shelves make you feel like you just want to sit and read for hours.
The inn is very quiet and a great place to relax. The front porch with the rocking chairs are so inviting. They give you a great view of Ocean Avenue. Parking is available and Mabel's Lobster Claw Restaurant is close by and an excellent place to get either lunch or dinner.
The breakfast at the Green Heron Inn is an exceptional treat. It is excellent from taste to presentation. The treats that are left out for you in the afternoon are also delicious. One day it was cookies and I couldn't get enough of them. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Kennebunkport now that I have stayed at the Green Heron Inn.
I'm always concerned with the cleanliness of some of the b and b's, Inns and hotels but this bed and breakfast was perfect.
My boyfriend loves to golf and he was able to get to the golf course easily from there. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful with everything we needed.
I felt so at home that I am going back again this year. I can't wait!

In June 2003 my sister and I were talking about meeting somewhere for a July 4th get together. The first thing that came to my mind... lobster. From lobster we found our way to The Green Heron Inn. We were so thrilled and charmed by everything we decided to make it tradition. This was our fifth year with DAN and TONY and we can't wait for our sixth. We see many of the same faces each year and everyone really makes it feel like home (Tony and Dan are like your favorite uncles!). Be sure to take loose fitting clothes...you will need them by the time you leave. Between the breakfast deliciousness (cross your fingers they serve the crab benedict) and addictive afternoon treats at TGH, nearby offerings of whoopie pie, lobsters and blueberries prepared every way imaginable you will need the extra room. From Kennebunkport you can easily take small day trips for the perfect lobster experience overlooking the waters and dining on picnic tables, gigantic LL Bean store (archery, skeet shooting, canoing, fly fishing available) and the Lindt chocolate outlet (again loose fitting clothes), spend a fun day in Portland, or venture into New Hampshire. OF COURSE hanging around there renting bikes, sitting in adirondack chairs, strolling the town, and enjoying the sounds of the ocean with your toes in the sand is the best part of all! Even though my sister and I live in different states, we always know that no matter what we will see each other every 4th of July at The Green Heron with Dan & Tony!

My Husband and I stayed at the Green Heron Inn for 10 days from 22nd sep 08 - 1st Oct 08 and had a fantastic time. Dan and Tony the Innkeepers are so friendly and helpful they made our stay so enjoyable. The Inn has a home away from home feel and we felt so comfortable there. The Breakfast's and afternoon treats (made by Tony) where fantastic and the best I have ever had at any Hotel or B+B. Dan was so helpful, when we wanted to travel into Boston for the day he suggested using a local coach company and helped us find out times and directions.

When we go back to Kennebunkport we would definatly stay at the Green Heron again and both look forward to it.

Thanks Dan and Tony for a wonderful time xxx

We loved this comfortable inn! the breakfasts were incredible. Our hosts, Dan and Tony were helpful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable with a nice common area. The inn was a short walk away from a sand beach. The views along ocean avenue were beautiful. You can walk to town (1 mile) were there was a nice choice of restaurants. Lots of old beautiful old homes not too far from the inn on quiet streets, perfect for a walk.

We will definitely come back and stay at this inn again!

My husband I and stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our "babymoon" in early August. This was our first experience with a B&B and thanks to Dan & Tony it was wonderful! The inn is charming, our room had a king size bed, nice bathroom and was very clean (we stayed in the West Quoddy, with a deck overlooking the water). Every morning they had granola and pastries to start with PLUS the full hot menu (with many options to choose from) and coffee/tea/juices. I never realized B&B's gave you options like that. The food was so delicious, Tony is an excellent chef. Best of all, Dan and Tony were so helpful and friendly. They answered our questions about the area, gave us directions when needed and advice on local restaurants. It really made our trip to Kennebunkport so special. Plus, you really cannot beat the location. It's a short walk to the main square and it's also very close to Mable's (best lobster and blueberry pie) and Walker's Point. There is also a spa across the street. We only stay in 4-5 star hotels and if you want something charming, cozy, affordable and clean, this is the perfect option. We will definitely come back the next time we visit Kennebunkport, even though there are so many other hotels/B&B's. I can't imagine that anything would top the Green Heron experience!

My wife and I stayed at the Green Heron Inn for our honeymoon. It was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were clean and modern. The food was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were very close to the downtown area and all of the beaches. We could see the river that runs behind the hotel from our window. It was absolutely gorgeous! I would definitely recommend staying at the Green Heron Inn. We absolutely will be staying there when we come back.

This was the last of four bed and breakfasts we stayed in during a two week trip to New England - and it was the best. Service was friendly and unobtrusive, breakfasts excellent - plenty of choice even if you didn't want the specials of the day which were too rich for us (!), lovely spotless room.
Dan advised us on the best local restaurants once we had browsed through their extensive collection of menues and made a booking for us. The only bad part was just staying for one night before our return to Boston. Next visit to Kennebunkport will be for longer and we will definitely be staying at the Green Heron again.

  • Liked — The situation on the edge of the lake and the friendliness of the owners without being overbearing
  • Disliked — Nothing - it is perfect

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Edgewater Inn, formerly known as The Green Heron Inn one of Kennebunkport's historic Inns, is located on Ocean Avenue, in one of the town's most charming neighborhoods. It sits adjacent to an estuarine cove, near the mouth of the Kennebunk river and just around the bend from President George Bush's vacation home on Walkers Point. Overnight stays include a 3-course breakfast, prepared by Chef Jason Grant in the "on the edge" restaurant from eight to noon. The Inn was built in the early 1900's as a boarding house that provided shelter and breakfast for weary travelers. Twelve guest rooms including a cove side cottage, thirty-two seat restaurant. Its location, which combines the beautiful surrounding of the Kennebunk River and the convenience of its proximity to all major Kennebunkport attractions, contributed to its popularity from its early days. That tradition continues today. While relaxation at The Edgewater Inn is an art in itself, activities abound in the surrounding area. Guests enjoy rejuvenating walks along the rocky shore, enjoy the sun on the sandy beach, explore the numerous galleries and shops in Dock Square, watch the wildlife and the birds as they gather near the water next to the inn, or spend a sunny day on one of the nearby golf courses. ... more   less
