We booked a weekend in a suite at the Grand in April for the season opening weekend. We arrived late on a Friday evening, and the check in process went very smoothly. We have young children, and the manager was kind enough to supply us with yogurt, bagels and snacks assuming our children woke up before breakfast was officially served (good assumption). That was very much appreciated.

Our focus that evening was getting the kids settled and to bed, so I did not really get an opportunity to check out the room. The TV did not work, the room was dusty but I just wanted to get everyone to bed.

Child # 1 woke up early (4AM) as expected. It was only then that I realized that our room did not have any natural daylight. - it was like being in a cave. It was such a horrible feeling. Secondly, the bed linens were the cheapest every - felt like aged 100% nylon. There really is no excuse for that anymore.

We spoke to the manager and he offered us another room. After looking at the rooms, (this time, they had windows!) we decided to leave. Another night in another dusty room on those slimy, nylon sheets was not something to relish. We're not fussy people, and we know not to expect the Ritz Carlton at the rate we were paying, but this was unacceptable.

I was also unhappy that we were given the worst room in the place when there were so many other options open (such bad business). It left a bad taste in my mouth.

We were then told that the full fee for our pre-paid second night was non refundable. At this stage, I was so sick of the manager and the hotel that I was happy to walk. My husband, however, negotiated a return of half our second night's fee. We went to a suite at Gorges Grant and didn't look back. We have been there three times since and loved it - great staff, clean, modern rooms, nice pool and gym and in-house restaurant. The staff there were even kind enough to offer us a late check out when not busy so that our baby could nap. Can't beat that for service. Avoid the Grand. Nice location, but for the same money, Gorges Grant is a much nicer option.

It was the first time we were staying at the Grand Hotel and it was great. Near of everything, very comfortable room, very nice staff. We will go again for sure.

The best thing about this hotel is its central location. You can park your car for free and walk almost everywhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are dark and very tired. The continental breakfast is laughable; the muffins and bagels are store bought and not in great abundance. The rates are very high for what you get. You are better off staying at one of the nicer motels on route 1 and walking or taking the trolley into town.

We have stayed in Ogunquit before and this time chose the Grand for its suite accommodations.
An excellent choice!!
The Grand is close to everything, just steps from Perkins Cove, good restaurants in town and the Cove and close to Ogunguit's cute shops, and beach. The Grand offers large, comfy, immaculately clean suites, two televisions in each (should anyone want to watch), an excellent staff - friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions for enjoying your vacation - and its cute porch with rockers to enjoy people watching while sipping something cool - or something hot, since coffee, tea, and cocoa are always available.
On our next visit to Ogunquit, we will definitely stay at the Grand!!
