This is an extraordinary place. The rooms are generous, well appointed and immaculate. The grounds are perfect - the lawn gardens, pool, tennis court and proximity to the Marginal Way make this an ideal place to stay. There is a continental breakfast included which is delicious. I have stayed in the 5+ many years ago, and it is better.

Room Tip: The motel rooms or the rooms in the Ireland house have an ocean view. The Jacobs House & Barbara Eden House have larger rooms

Just spent 9 days at the Sparhawk and we had a great time. Not to many places I know send you a letter while they are closed in winter to both thank you and give you updates about what to expect in coming season as far as renovations and upgrades.Spoke to loyal clients who have been coming back at same time of year and staying at the same room for 15,25 or more years.Requested for early housekeeping and was never let down.Breakfast was always ready to be served before they officially were opened.Stayed at Ireland House and from balcony had a great view of the beach and ocean .Also noticed that even though there was activity at their pool, tennis court or shuffle board area it was never overly loud. Stayed at other resorts nearby were they served alcohol in pool area and believe me it can get loud and rowdy quickly. In fact people were nearby under a tree reading a book as we were on our balcony.Garden area are hands down the nicest in Ogunquit.Staff really work hard daily on keeping it looking beautiful. In fact 1 out of 5 people who would pass by going through to get to Marginal Way would stop to take pictures of their flower arrangements from sunrise to sunset.Wifi always worked great.Again it's in the details that make people keep coming back for years.See you in October!

The Sparhawk retains a quality marrying a bed and breakfast with early twentieth century resort charm. Our room overlooked Ogunquit beach and the north Atlantic beyond. Ogunquit is a small Oceanside village offering plenty of eateries and shops. The Sparhawk is centrally located so a visitor can park their car for their stay and walk to all parts of the village. Though our visit was short, they have a well kept tennis court and pool on location. Their inclusive breakfast in the main house is delightful with something for everyone. Nice clean, spacious en suite may not have the modern appointments of coffee maker but they have great coffee in the main house. Bring it back to your suite and enjoy the morning sea air on the ocean front balcony. Cam was very helpful with our reservation, say hi when you visit.

Very clean and great location, right on the water, but not for anyone confined to a wheelchair. Just writing this to be helpful to others that may be searching for accommodations for wheelchairs. There is a step up to your room plus the door opens in to the bathroom not out which prevents wheelchair access into shower and door cannot close with wheelchair inside bathroom.

Hi Sheila & Chip,
Glad you visited the Sparhawk and sorry that we were not as accommodating to your wheelchair needs as you required. We do have a ramp that goes into room but somehow it was overlooked for your arrival. It was good to see you both again.

We just returned from a 3-night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. We've been vacationing in Ogunquit for over 20 years and have tried many of the hotels and inns in the area. We have never stayed on Shore Drive with an ocean view and decided this was the year! We stayed in the Barbara Dean house, which has suites and apartments and is located right on Shore Road. Our room had a beautiful ocean view. The walls must be very well insulated because we couldn't hear anyone else above or next to us. The negatives - there is no privacy on the balcony/deck (we were on the 1st fl) and we literally felt like we were on vacation with the people next to us. When you are sitting on your balcony, you are sitting right next to the people next to you. It said in the welcome guide that this is intentional to foster "community" but to be honest, when on vacation, we just want to relax and not have to socialize sometimes! Our "neighbors" had children who kept climbing up the deck railing to come on and off the deck instead of going around to the front door of their room. It was annoying and definitely made us not want to sit on our deck. The beds were VERY hard and made for a bit of an uncomfortable night's sleep. The breakfast was definitely not what we would call ample (compared to other locations). It was free, but we still ate elsewhere after realizing it was just the basics. It's also crowded and loud but you are allowed to take your breakfast back to your room. There is no microwave, though, so you can't heat anything up if it gets cold. It's also in a different building and it was cold in the morning, so we needed that microwave!! We loved the tennis courts and the direct access to Marginal Way (right outside of our door). All in all, a very nice property and we would return!
