Our family just returned from a lovely trip to The Anchorage by the Sea resort in Ogunquit Maine. This was our first trip to Ogunquit. We chose this resort based on past reviews (which were excellent.) Ours will be no different. This resort is right on the Marginal Way (which is a beautiful walking path along the ocean.) It is centrally located, which makes getting around incredibly easy. If you go one way on the path, you wind up in Perkin's Cove; the other way will lead you into town or down over the footbridge to the nearby beach. We didn't need the car at all. There is a decent restaurant on the premises, Surf 360. The restaurant has phenomenal views of the ocean, with seating that is indoor/outdoor. We found the prices to be reasonable and the food to be better than expected for an on-site restaurant. We purchased a bed and breakfast package that added 10 dollars per person to the nightly charge, however our breakfast (which included the juice, coffee, and entree) was usually close to $40 (for two) so well worth the cost. The resort has a lovely lawn area with plenty of seating, including chaise lounges. We would get up just before sunrise, grab some coffee in the lobby, and sit and watch the sun come up over the sea. There are a few gazebos out here as well, which we found worked well for dining outdoors. We were in an upper Shore room in the Starboard building. This afforded us a nice side view of the ocean. Not sure how the view would be down on the first floor but it was better than expected on the second floor. There are rooms that have a more direct view of the ocean (the beach rooms) however they only had one king bed and we needed two queens. There was a higher cost for these rooms, but I imagine the view from the second floor room is fantastic. Our room was immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. My husband and daughter enjoyed the pools - a heated indoor and a heated outdoor pool. The lobby is always open and there is always hot coffee/tea available - a small thing, but the small things make it nicer. Every single person that we dealt with was friendly and accommodating. Such a wonderful getaway. This review is for the resort however I must add that Ogunquit is a beautiful place, and is now on our list of favorites for future trips. When we do return, it will definitely be to The Anchorage by the Sea resort.

Room tip: Starboard building, Beach rooms have best views. Rooms near pool are noisier.

This place has a lot going for it. Very friendly, personable staff. Fantastic location - walk the 'Marginal Way', walk to Town, fun bar, nice pool and hot tubs, nice restaurant and very comfortable rooms. The ocean view from either the lawn or the bar is probably its best feature.

This was our second visit to Anchorage by the Sea although our first for this time of year! Unfortunately it rained the entire 4 days we spent there. So it kind of put a damper on our visit. Let me tell you the good things first. The staff is outstanding from Paul (the "Butler" from housekeeping ) to Liz (in the restaurant) we couldn't have had better service. However it might be nice to find along with the refrigerator in our room we really would have appreciated a small Microwave! We sure would have appreciated that to warm up coffee at night. That said we will plan a trip back in the summer when we are at least sure to have if not sunny at least WARM weather!

Room tip: If you have a lot to carry stay on the first floor!

My husband and I spend one night at Anchorage By the Sea. The room was very clean and spacious. Small bathroom with a bathtub but very clean. Nice toiletries. Very friendly stuff. Free hot tea/coffee in the lobby. I booked the room on the first floor which was a mistake because I could hear people walking and talking after midnight in front of our room. Also, I could hear people on the second floor walking. Next time I'll definitely book the second floor unit. Good size sauna, two hot tubs( one inside and one outside) and a pool. Overall,we had a pleasant stay!

Great location, on the beach. Had a nice, romantic dinner, by one of the fireplaces, at Portside 360 restaurant. Room was nice, clean. View of the beach, simply amazing. Hot tub was available, but crowded with other guests, and we wanted alone time. Overall a great weekend.

Room tip: Awesome view from second floor.
